I'm back! I've taken a bit of time away but now I'm back.

I'm excited to say that I have a new entry for the 48 Hour Film Project in the works. That is leading me to shoot some commercials and a pair of music videos. I'm excited to launch my career as a producer. It's a bit scary and the work is daunting but I'm confident it'll be a learning experience.

That's all for now.

Wow, 2008 was quite possibly the worst year of my life and that's saying a lot! I'm glad it's over. In retrospect,I learned a lot about myself and life this year.

I officially am no longer a Realtor and after tonight I might not be working at the bar anymore either. It kinda really sucks. I worked hard in real estate but the market just wasn't there. At the bar though, I got screwed and after eight years working for the owner I'm pissed that it's ending this way.

On the bright side though, how many of us get to start the new year with a clean slate. A new blank canvas if you will. I have a feeling that I'm going to create my masterpiece in '09.

I don't really make resolutions; I set goals. I guess they're the same thing or at least a similar idea. In '09 I will get the job I want and need; go back to finish my degree, it's been a long time coming; finish my book and screenplay, been working on them for years now; get at least six tattoos that I've been wanting for a good while; visit Lebanon, Spain, and Scotland; finish my second book after that trip; get the truck that I want, it's a 4Runner; get the Cannon 5D I covet; and if I find the girl I don't know exists, huge bonus.

I don't really know why I decided to share, maybe because then it's a matter of record, but I did.

On that note, I wish you all an incredibly happy new year! May the saddest days be behind you and happiness be bountiful in your life! Be well.

So, I've been thinking, talking about, and planning what I have come to call my next or latest "disaster". It's what I call any artistic project I undertake. Normally my projects are photographs, videos, drawings, or writings. This time it was a painting. My first painting in fact. So here is how it evolved.zoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom imagezoom image

I'm already planning my next project. Actually, I'm working on what the next few paintings, photo sets, and videos are going to be. Well, here it is and I hope you enjoy it and it wasn't a waste of your time to look it over.

So a pair of months back I entered the 48 hour Film Project and this was the outcome. All teams got the same character, line of dialogue, and prop. Then we all picked a genre out of a hat.

The character was Walter or Wilma Western Repair Person
The prop was an urn with ashes representing a deceased...
The line of dialogue was, "What's the password?"
And we picked Romance out of the hat.

It was someone else's project that I was invited to come on board to help. While I'm pleased with the result, look for a re-edit soon.

I've always talked about how much I'd love to create a film and to be a film maker. I'm about to get my chance in two weeks. I must say that it's a little nerve wrecking to know that if I don't try my damnedest to set everything up just right I'm letting my team down.

I'm doing the 48 Hour Film Project here in Chicago and I'm working on securing locations, budget, food, cast & crew. You'd think it would be easy for me to secure the locations, being that I'm a realtor and all, but it's getting to be a bit of a challenge because of the dates and the fact that I don't know what locations we'll actually need.

Another big challenge has been casting. I mean, we don't know who or what we're going to need until we get all the details. So I feel like it may be a challenge to ask our cast to be available for 48 hours and really not have more info to give other than what we know. On top of that, we're not allowed to pay anyone for their time. It has to be completely voluntary.

If you'd like to be involved, please message me and I'll give you the details.
To every challenge, there is a solution. I forget who said that but they are words to live by.

Some people think I'm a little weird. Or that I have weird friends. Maybe I'm being judged by my friends, I don't know. Due to the fact that I'm not rich, I guess the classification of crazy is not too far off target. If I were rich you could call me eccentric.

Anyway, my friends are an extension of who I am. It would be hard to deny the fact that everyone in my life is creative in their own unique way. When some people see a snow flake, they see something of a nuisance. When others see that same snow flake,we see the shape it has crystalized in. We see that the individual life of a snow flake last a few seconds before it melts on to the pavement or joins its snow flake buddies to cover my car in snow and then frustrate the shit out of me when it's all frozen to my windshield... sorry. That snow flake had an elaborate design... so elaborate it is unique in that there isn't another like it. That is more than I can say for some human beings.

My point is, some people see art as one thing and others as another.

My personal view is, LIFE IS ART.

I'm a self proclaimed writer, philosopher, poet, photographer, producer, sketcher, etc.

I write my life one moment at a time. One mishap, one learning experience, one broken heart, one disillusioned soul bent on making something great, at a time.

I preach the philosophy of one man to one man, myself.

I poeticize (that's right, I can conjugate) the moments in my life when I learned about myself. Those moments we've all been through when we've wondered, "what the FUCK!!!!"

I only photograph only that worth remembering. My soul is my film, my brain the camera, and my eyes the shutter. Some day, while on my death bed, I'll reveal to myself what it was.

I produce comfort and love. I produce a sense a belonging to those with whom I belong. I produce lasting friendships when given the opportunities.

I sketch my future in black and white adding the colors and shades only as I go.

It's an old saying, "don't judge a book by its cover". Where you just see a, sometimes, quiet, sarcastic, romantically disillusioned big guy, others see me being as cynical too. We are all more than what we seem!

On that note I must say, I'M A MUTHERFUCKING ARTIST!!!!!! And so are all of you!

Until then, Thank you for not judging. Have a great day!
