Vancouver people!!

I've also decided to start booking weddings again. Maybe only one or two per month though. So if you know anyone who is getting married in Western Canada (or will pay travel expenses to somewhere else) send them my way! I have a sample gallery I can show people, though nothing on my main site yet.

I have been really busy! No time to reply to your comments on my last entry, but next time for sure!

I'm starting to think my photography is getting good. I'm pretty critical of myself, and usually hate my work pretty soon after shooting it. It's a bit less now though.

I'd like to start focusing on some kind of style but I don't know what. I'm sure I have some kind of style, but it's pretty all over the place. Or maybe just some kind of project to focus on? I had an idea ages ago (I think I was 16) to shoot a series pretty much exactly like this one but never did. Then I came across that and was discouraged. Maybe I'll still do it one day, just to see how different it turns out? I really love glass. Maybe you have noticed?

I came across this photo just now and was really impressed.

Also...

Thanks to everyone who has bought prints recently! I greatly appreciate it. I haven't raised the prices yet, but will soon. I decided I would do that the next time I add new work.

I still haven't really figured out how to sleep at a reasonable time (before 4AM). I think today I'm going to try running on the treadmill until I almost pass out. That will either exhaust me, or give me so much energy I'm up all night again. I guess I'll find out tonight.

I didn't get a chance to do my photo project last week. I'm going to try to do part this week, and part next week. There might end up being more like 4 parts by then. We'll see how that goes. I'm excited though! It's nice to mess around with new ideas. It's not super original, but it's just a starting point to spark some new creativity anyways.

Life is sure awesome when you surround yourself with amazing people. I'm constantly learning new things lately, and feeling incredibly grateful. It was this time of year 5 years ago when my husband and I first started dating (and instantly moved in together), and things are now better than ever, better than I could have predicted. He is one impressive person! I am always hearing about other people's relationship issues, and I wish they could have what I have, and I wonder why they don't/can't.

It was shot the day after the Calgary SG night at the bar where the event was. That was the only time I've been dumb enough to be hung over when I had something important to do. In fact, I think that was only the third time I've been hung over. I'm usually pretty good at avoiding it, but perhaps it was the RedBull? I never drink that crap, but Shanti is a bad influence on me I guess. Haha. Luckily I had JamesWyper there to prevent me from passing out in a pile of my own vomit on the sidewalk, and carry around my gear (speaking of awesome people I am grateful for). Yay!

Also...

Update: I just ran 1.5K (almost a mile), lifted some weights, and did some crunches and shit. It's been years since I ran like that and it was nice! If I don't sleep well tonight I will be pissed.

I've been sleeping weird hours lately. 4/5 am to noon the last couple nights, and I need to fix that. And today I am going to work on a photo project. Hopefully it will turn out well and I can post something for you.

Busy, busy, busy! Things are good though.

Thanks everyone! Things are improving. Writing/talking things out helped, I think. Just realizing what the problem was seemed to make a big difference.

Now I'm replacing the bad memories with good ones, letting the past go, and remembering how extraordinarily amazing my life is. I can't even believe it sometimes. And I know it's only going to get better. That's one of the many things I've learned in the last while.

Back to worrying about work and money and work and money... Haha.

Euphoria. Is that what I've been feeling lately? Something like that anyways. I feel like I've found some great secret to happiness, and I feel like I'm bursting with it. I'm not even sure what that secret is. Honesty is a part of it. Love. Small pleasures. Gratefulness. Peacefulness. Feeling connected. What else? It's an incredibly new feeling. Well, maybe not so new, but usually I would only feel it during very select occasions when something amazing happens. Now it's like all I have to do is find a good book, or feel sunshine, or think about how much I love my life and I could almost cry.



Wow, I never used to write crap like that!



I had a really nice day today. A lovely morning with my husband, and an afternoon of wandering downtown alone. I bought The Bell Jar, because it's supposed to be really good but I haven't gotten around to reading it. Then I decided I should try not to buy books all the time, so I went and got a library card and took out a couple books I've never heard of from the "featured" section. It has taken me 6 years! The public library was basically my biggest high school romance [super nerd!], but then I moved to a different province and didn't bother getting a card until today! I'm not sure why. I think I felt overwhelmed with life and didn't want to add reading and remembering to return library books into my busy schedule. I think I've found a bit more balance now though, and have a lot more energy than I used to.



So I finally got around to sorting through photos from as early as April and posted them on my flickr. Click to view them all if you like. There's some of my trip to Vancouver (including the insane 420 event at the VAG that *Malloreigh took me to), my new polaroids, my trip to Lake Louise (and the hike to the Lake Agnes Teahouse), and my trip to Vernon (where I am from).

*It was so lovely to spend time with Malloreigh.



I have also added a tonne of photos to my print store. As I haven't had any Member Review Sets purchased this month I need to make a bit extra in the next couple weeks to compensate.
