So, I think that between the distance between TX and WA, and the business of summer school, my BF has lost interest. Which pretty much fucking sucks because I was liking what we had going. It might be for the best though because I may have been getting more attached than was best. It renews an idea I had, when my ex hubby and I...

Hey... I met my girlfriend via on-line dating. So I speak from experience: There is a good side too it. Yes, there is a lot of crap to wade through, but I dare say you'll run into just as much bullshit in your average bar.

Far more often than not, efforts to make human relations uncomplicated don't work out as planned. But that doesn't seem to prevent us from trying. smile

I think the Internet can be a great help in weeding out obvious mismatches before one ever gets to an offline meeting, but I'm dubious about the efficacy of online dating sites. At least for me, it seems to be easier to get to know someone in another place whose explicit purpose isn't dating and matchmaking. At the dating sites, you can find people who match a set of specific criteria, but those sorts of matches tend to miss a lot of the ephemeral but critical stuff that has to be there for people to actually be a great match.

WTF TX? 3 months with out getting laid is unacceptable bullshit!

IDK if it's the "alternative" look or the fact that I'm not really willing to make an effort to get to make a heart to heart connection, but I'm getting NO action here. Even at the clubs there is no grinding ...just two stepping. Am I missing something in College Station or are people...

For better or worse, College Station is basically exactly what it appears to be, socially. Tx A&M can be a great university, but it is in a small town.
If you can get over to Austin for a weekend, you'll have a much better time and most likely hear some very good music. Houston can be entertaining as well and there's a place for everyone; I am biased however since it's my home.
Hope you find some much deserved fun!

Well apparently you are on the wrong side of the State, everyone knows the WEST side is the BEST side, lol. Either way the state is not that big, I've driven to Spokane many of times, so wherever you are is reachable wink

That's good that he lost with dignity. Especially because it was his first. There should never be any bad blood there.

So here it the critique of my paper from the editor (MY VERY FIRST PEER REVIEW!)

I'll try so repost the paper in a bit so you guys can read over the paper and see if you agree. In general I think it is a good review and I agree with a lot of the things that need to be changed. This will most likely...

Setting: Lab meeting-
zoonotic disease PhD:"Up date us on what's going on with you"
Entomology Grad student: " ....and I became an aunt! (every one cheers) He was very premature but he's doing great now. HE POOPED TODAY for the FIRST TIME" (Every one cheers even...

So I have been getting a lot done in the lab but I still feel like I'm behind. This is my 4th weekend here and I haven't even started on getting results. I have about 140 dissections under my belt so I'm prob the most experienced kissing bug dissectors at Texas A&M lol. Spent all of Saturday there and have a nasty burn on my...

SO I decided to give up on the journal style blog thing. I would like to keep up with it but I'm SO FUCKING BUSY. We caught way too many bugs (340 so far) and still have more coming in. I have to ID them to species using a key from the 70s (anyone who has ever used a key will feel my pain on...

First full day off since I arrived. Feels good to just relax and get mundane life stuff taken care of. I cleaned up the dorm room and had my phone number transferred over to Bens old phone. I think I will stick with it until it dies on me or I lose it. No point in getting something new when I'm way to hard on...

Went to the lab even though it was Saturday. Shadowed Rachel for a few hour. She showed me how to start the PCR. First the sample a lyced to make the DNA available. Then the sample is run through a filter a couple of times to remove the dna from the rest of the sample. Then the DNA is washed off of the filter. That...

I still have a lot of documentation and dissection to do before really getting into the PCR work but I'm going to be a champ at it by the time I leave. 300+ for my project plus quite a few for practice.
