Hello kind friends of SG!
Heres the bigger blog (with photos!) that I promised you!
First I want to apologize for taking so long to get back to you. Theres been a lot going on around here, pulling my mind and attention in many directions. Most of you know we moved from a 1/3 acre home in PA to a 3 acre home in MD this past Oct. We've been putting lots of time and effort into making it our own little homestead.
Its beautiful here. I'm happy to have the nice weather show its face now and then. There is a spring fed creek that runs through the middle, and the far side of it is wooded with mature shade trees.
Lots of native moss, mayapples, and jewelweed. But also a lot of invasive mutiflora rose that I've started attempting to clean out. I have my work cut out for me,

For those of you that havent already heard the bad, bad news. I lost me bees over the winter.
I tried so hard, but it was a very bad winter in MD. Most beekeepers here lost half their hives, so I realize there was really nothing I could do to stop it. While they were weak, a family of mice moved in and decimated the combs.

It's hard to find a word to explain how horrible I felt about it.
I'm going to order more and start again, but since so many people lost hives, most of the suppliers are sold out, and I'm having a hard time finding some.
The last week of March we went to the local feed store and picked out our baby chicks. They are growing amazingly fast! And its funny to see their personalities develop.

I call them Pistol, Penny, Peck, Pixil, Priss, Primrose and my little sweet heart, Puff.

This is Prim and Puff sitting on my lap enjoying some sunlight.
I'm so enamored with them, I've turned into the crazy lady that only talks about her chickens.

This is my kiddo and Pistol...

The previous owners of the house had made a playhouse when their kids were young. We turned it into a coop and will move the girls out there when they are big...
