Your favorites? And I don't mean concert films, but movies about (not just featuring) real or fictional composers, performers, bands, etc.

A few of mine:
High Fidelity (DJ's are musicians too, dammit!)
Thirty-two Short Films about Glenn Gould
Immortal Beloved
The Doors
Groove

Filth and the Fury...just a great docu. on the sex pistols
Rock and Roll High School...a whole movie of girls drooling over the Ramones...so strange and yet so right!
A Hard Days Night...the most fun movie ever ("Bet we make you wish you'd lost the war!")
Gimme Shelter...that knife stabbing at the end and the riots...you see the 60's end right there...
and even though its made up --Amadeus..."I am the patron saint of mediocrity"

prolly my tops would be the F. Murray Abraham movie "Amadeus".
Otherwise the documentary "Scratch" was really good and well done.

here's one for ya:
the movie "indian runner" was based on the song "highway patrolman", off springsteen's "nebraska" album. i think it was directed by sean penn. it's pretty cool that an entire movie's story can be adapted from a 4 minute song. great movie. some cool cameos.
a different spin on this topic. it's definitely worth renting.
