in an interview, cameron crowe mentioned that he has made a mix tape every month since the late 80s, as music is a journal into the soul, capturing the moods and desires of that time.
i made my last compilation in august, and named it every kiss you miss makes a freckle after an azure ray lyric. it's a downtempo ~ dreamy folk compilation that captures my lovelorn summer spent indoors (tracklisting at URL above). anyway, i was wondering if anyone also made cd mixes and would like to exchange efforts.
if enough people are interested in exchanging, maybe we can start a little group where everyone sends each other a cd mix every 2-3 months... it's definitely the best way to discover new music.
btw, the new effort caramelizing in my head is going to be post-punk, wrapped around joy division's "digital" >>
i read that interview and it inspired me to at least pick a song a month .. but .. then sept 11 came along and i couldn't find anything that fit. i probably should have just gone with something by u2 that was out then. anyway, i unfortunately quit, but it's such a marvelous idea that i wish i hadn't.

damn...I have stricly forbit myself from perusing this website after the first few miinutes looking around, I would spend too long there. I would kinda love to distribute the comp I finsihed, but am expanding...the first tiem it was finished, it was "42 songs whose names are names of girls". that was all jsut thinking of songs in our heads between me and two other friends...after goign through all my own music with the intention of finding songs whose names are names of girls, it looks like the playlist might expand to abotu 5 cds. the list goes alphabetically, and it makes for surprisingly good transitions and genre-clumps.
-has been surprised at how many people liked it, should get back on that project.

you know what's really wierd about your post? U2's song "Beautiful Day" will forever remond me of 9/11. I just remember someone blasting it on the morning of 9/12. as if to say "we're still here"
