OK.... heres one I want explained. While Bush was Attacking Iraq North Korea was finishing up work to make their first nuclear weapon. So a dictatorship which has something like 1/3 or 1/4 of its population in work prisons which if you want to know how bad it is look it up I don't have that much time this week to describe it. So anyway a definite world wide weapon that can kill millions at once is made by a country whose foriegn policy is little else than Terrorism we let them go and attack a bad man who our presidents family has a grudge with and make alot of money for our presidents family and friends. So one thousand plus die for a grudge and money while later one million plus of us will die because it wasn't profitable and it wasn't pointed out by the media how much we need to get rid of North Korean threat? Hold up before you point out that intelligence said Iraq had WMDs or terrorist connections. Our intelligence did say there was a terrorist connection Al Quaeda repeaded asked for help, Saddam said screw you I have my own problems repeatedly. Our intelligence said they had been working on WMDS and this was true and that little bit was twisted and warped out of context with alot of work and I mean alot. ok Rant rave and maybe just somebody with a calm intelligent bone in their body explain. Please .....

Oh and rest assured the rest of the world has a watchful eye on North Korea. It maybe be best that the U.S keeps clear to be honest.

Was there a question in there? While I think I agree with you, it seems like that was more of a political statement. Or a synopsis of Fahrenheit 9-11.

Its best now probably but while they were working on it and threatening to build nukes and giving tours of the nuclear reactors they got the materials from and showing how they could do it. Ie during GW's last term thats the context of the question. I just can't comprehend it, at the time I was paying attention to world news issues and actual events, I was completely shocked when we went into Iraq instead. It just seems too insane for me to comprehend. I guess what Im looking for is another explanation something to make me feel like I'd even be safe moving to Canada if GW gets reelected.

Actually its from an old cheesy horror flick with a kid and every time he closes his eyes the toy clown in the corner crawls closer to the bed when he reopens them its just sitting there stairing at him closer. Was kinda scarry to me as a kid and Bush makes me feel the same way now that I'm 29

thats not all it is.
Yes, having a democracy in Iraq would be helpful (in the very long run) to Isreal, but that is a very small part of it.
N Korea is a much more complicated issue, since they DO HAVE WMDs, a difficult relationship with S. Korea, and throw China in for good measure.

the Neocons LOVE a military solution, have wanted Sadam out for 5+ years, dont mind sending business halliburtons way, had to do SOMETHING with all the 9/11 capital just laying around...

It's fairly simple, if we take military action against N. Korea the loss of life would be incredible. N. Korea has enough conventional artillery and rockets to completely wipe Seoul and much of the rest of S. Korea off the face off the earth.

Iraq didn't have shit.

Timing is everything. We really dont have enough forces to commit to 2 theatres and have any reserve for other enemies that might try to take advantage of our pre-occupation.

If Saddam had let the inspectors in we wouldnt have had a pretext for the invasion. If we began to commit troops to the Korean theatre and Saddam acted up it would have looked an excuse to chicken out so we may have let Iraq slide a while.

Another possibility is that we didnt want to buildup troops in a area where they could be devasttated by a few nukes. So... (very machiavellian theory) we sent our army to Iraq so we would be perceived as being over commited and could fail to use force in Korea, and not lose face there. Remember, we've fought both N.Korea and Iraq. Even with the insurrection we have lost a lot less in Iraq and Afghanistan than we would in Korea.

This is just something I pulled off the top of my head. Dont anyone take it too serious.
