Lance is a Stud of the First Order.

I think it is interesting that he's talking about maybe not doing the tour next yet.

I also think it is a little funny/cute that Sheryl Crow is talking about how she is trying to convence him to let her get some of his 'assets' that are currently on ice.

actually, from what i understand about discovery communications contract to sponsor the team, i believe it stipulates that lance must compete in the 2005 tour

Phil Ligget usually does a big interview with Lance a couple weeks after the Tour where I'm sure the question of #7 will come up. It's always a great interview to watch as you get the story behind a lot of the events out on the road.

Personally, I'm looking forward to hearing about the Semioni happenings.

However, if history has its way, he won't make a concrete decision about next year until the winter. My money says he'll do it again, he shows no signs of slowing and, like Mikeybitter said, I'm sure Discovery Comm. has something to say about it - after all it was Lance holding up the new jersey at the press conference, not Johan.

Also, the LAF raised an enormous amount of money this year with the LiveStrong campaign, I'm sure the Ride for the Roses will be a smashing success as well and Lance certainly understands the importance of pulling from the well while it's wet - for himself and the foundation.

I say #7 a go.

I guess that’s cool. I don’t know there is just something about him I don’t like. I mean its cool that he keeps wining, but his personal life seems a bit shady to me. Then again I don’t really know all that much about it.

Please read It's Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong. It's a really easy, smooth read about his life. I finished it in about three hours.

By "easy and smooth" I mean the writing style. I wouldn't call his cancer treatment easy or smooth. It was HELL.

I don't really think he's shady. He is a bit cocky perhaps. But I still like him. This guy is truly intense about his training. And to think that running was his original sport.

What makes it really amazing is that it was only a few years ago, he had a 50% chance of dying from advanced cancer.

this should be the main reason that people are proud of him. if he was English, none of you would bat an eyelid, but he's American, so...

shit like that just bugs me. i don't care where he's from; anyone who beats the shit out of cancer is a hero, in my book. i wish more people saw it like that, because it really boosts people with cancer to know they can do positive things.

Yeah, I'm all about those who beat the odds because they show us that anything is possible. That said, I can't help but admit that I have some pride in Lance because he is a local (Austin) hero. But, even if he were from another country, I would applaud his example and what he has achieved. There are great people all over the world. smile
