It's a rough gig getting a Playstation 3. As if it weren't bad enough that the machine will set you back over 500 bucks and Sony, due to a "blue diode shortage" in the game console's Blu-Ray drive is way under delivering on this initial shipment, but you also just might get your ass kicked getting one.

Multiple reports are surfacing today of PS3 line violence. In West Bend, Wisconsin, the 60 people waiting for the 10 available units went berserk jostling for line position, requiring police and and ambulance to be dispatched to the scene.

A Palmdale, California Wal-Mart's PS3 line was a chaotic mess as police had to move the line from inside the store to the parking lot, causing angry line waiters to wreck everything in their path in the process.

In Lexington Kentucky, three people and a local news reporter were the victims of a drive-by BB shooting. Since no one lost an eye or anything though, this is actually pretty funny.

Did anyone mention to these Mensa members that the PS3 will have almost no games available at launch (at midnight tonight) and will cost 500 plus bucks?

Ahh, the joys of natural selection.

If you really want to find out how few PS3's will be available in your area, try this tracker.

Sounds like Sony is fucked. Isn't that Blu-Ray drive what makes the ps3 so badass? If it is, I know a lot of pimply fat kids are gonna be PISSED. mad Imagine it. Thousands of fat-assed, myspace blogging nerds rioting in the streets, all while eating pizza. Lots of pizza.

That makes me laugh a bit. Silly Sony monkeys.

I went from store to store today just to look at the lines. I'll be thinking of them as they are recovering in the hospital and I sit at home playing with my Wii. Pun intended.

I wish people would realize that the PS3 is a complete piece of crap in a shiny black box.

I don't see the point in being the First! to buy a console or even a video game.

Two words: bargain bin.

I waited until two years ago to acquire an XBOX - it already had a great library of games (many in the bargain bin themselves), and it was still current.

Bah. Eff these kids and their consolish pissing contests. I'll be the last one I know to get the thing, and by then it'll be half price.

I work at Circuit City and we had to call the cops cuz people were just getting so pushy about this shit. It is absolutely insane.

As for me, I'm going to wait...get a new home theater system, new 1080p TV, then buy one probably around this time next year.

Weird... all the people waiting in line outside of our store have been extremely friendly and polite. They're all sitting around chatting with each other. Very civil.

However, I expect that there will be a flood of douchebags tomorrow who will make my day a living hell when they find out they can't have one.

Yeah. For me, it's always been the people who come in at 3 pm on launch day who become the douchebags.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CAN'T BUY ONE! I HAVE MONEY!!"

"Yep. So did the two hundred other people who came in before you. You know, the ones who got here early enough to actually have a chance in hell of buying the stuff."

"I'LL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN!"

"Are you willing to pinky swear to that?"

"due to a "blue diode shortage" in the game console's Blu-Ray drive is way under delivering on this initial shipment"

I don't believe it for a secondÂ…

People are waiting in line, for a product that they may not even end up with. It's not going to work properly, and then the people who do end up with a console will fill Internet message boards with "mY PS3 bUrNt mY hOuSe dOwN, bOyCoTt SoNy" posts.

It's six hundred goddamn dollars! There aren't even any notable games available for it. Get over it, I don't see why people can't wait a little while to see if it's even worthwhile.

I mean if they're going to blindly throw money away, they should be sending some in my direction.

However, I will be buying a Wii on the 19th... because it's going to be AWESOME!

heh you should see how much people are willing to pay for one on Ebay. One guy here in NYC has been camping outside since Mon. and i kidd you not, It's been on the news.

It's really quite funny to see what these pathetic fanatics do whenever a new console is released. Eventually i will get one, but I'm in no rush since my Alienware PC ownz all consoles. biggrin

Investing in any first generation computer related product is usually a bad idea. When that product costs $500-$600 and is made by Sony, it's an even worse idea. Quite a high price to pay for two months of bragging rights.

Yeah... considering people can easily make $1000 profit on Ebay... sitting in a tent outside for two days suddenly doesn't sound so stupid. They're going to make more selling that thing than I will for two weeks of work.

That's why everyone should do what I did, pay an extra 200 and get it reserved, no lines, no anger, no smelly bastard standing behind you for 5 hrs. When I get home in two weeks (I'm spending my first holiday with my family since I joined the military smile ) I'll walk right up to the counter, give the guy my receipt and walk away with my dream system.

I wouldn't blame the violence on fan boys, as much as i would blame it on the people that wanna ebay them.

Most retailers (at least here) did very few pre-orders. Some stores (like mine) did none.

the real idiots are the ones who are going to be buying them off ebay for 1K, then either not having it arrive for 2 weeks after 3 more shipments have come or finding the stupid ups team used the box in a game of soccer.

actually, no. the prople who bleed for theirs are the bigger idiots imo.

We're getting five times as many of the Wii. I don't know if that's true for everywhere... but Nintendo is nowhere as retarded as Sony. They're making way more units available.
