Death In Johannesburg
I have this idea for a new feature film that I am writing called "Death In Johannesburg" it's about the slums of South Africa. I don't know that much about it but I really want to learn.
The film is about this Australian guy going to research Johannesburg and he gets caught up in the slums and the gangs that rule the slums because there is no government and its ruled by the gun.
I'm not sure if I can make it though because I'm not from there or have a background from there.
I will do my research first and find out all I can before writing it, I might even live there.
I was just wondering would it be borderline stereotype racist if I made a film like this? Would I be aloud to, such as Danny Boyle with Slum-dog MIllionaire, I could get someone else to write it and I just directed it. I don't want to be stereotype racist because I'm not, I want to tell the truth.
What do you think?
