i Vancouver Island...well the parts i saw this summer anyway. i was there with my guy for a week...spent 4 days of that hiking on the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. fell madly in love with it, with Port Renfrew, with Sooke, somewhat with Victoria, and want to go back again this year. i'd never been to the coast, let alone the coastal rainforest and i feel like i left a part of me behind when i went away. i have to go back again! i must!
sweet cracker sandwich! another biology geek! i'm currently working after finishing my undergrad honours (on raptor foraging in a fragmented landscape - sounds more exciting than it was). i'm doing a lot of PR work for a land stewardship program aimed at retaining habitat for Burrowing Owls and Loggerhead Shrikes. great programs, but some days i'm scared to death of people, so it's definitely not my dream job. it does pay the bills though, so it's alright for now. i plan to do my masters in the next two years however, hoping to focus on the american badger. i'd love to go somewhere in BC and do work, particularly the coast, but at this point in time my roots are here and i'm not wanting to rip them up. tell me more about salmonid evolution and were you at the Leading Edge conference in Victoria this summer?
