Good heavens. I almost posted a pro-animal-testing comment to an anti-animal-testing thread. Whew... close call! If I'd actually hit "submit" instead of closing the page, I'd be a blackened lump of charcoal by now. A narrow escape.
I don't like cruelty to animals. I hate causing pain to living things (excepting only mosquitos and rats... I'm happy to make them suffer). No, really. Nor do any of the biologists and biochemists I know and work with like to hurt living things. They wouldn't be in this field otherwise.
But at least two personal friends, and 3 family members, are alive today because of drugs which would not have existed without animal research. And I'm glad they're alive. So...

I will never forgive myself for not being in a better financial position when I went to Scotland. I got the plane ticket as a gift, but had to pay for everything else with plasic. I'm still technically paying off the drunks I had there, five years later.
