okay, so I've been away. And I have neglected my duties here. So here's a big ol' zet post for ya'll.
Basically, I finished my MA last week. My supervisor reckons I should get a distinction overall but we'll have to wait and see. But when I handed in my brain seemed to dump all files. All I've done this last week is mooch a...

Where have you been dudeler? Was it my last blog?! I have a new one! It's way more pleasant and non eye-burning
I feel bad 'cos I've got nothing exciting to say. My life consists of getting out of bed, trudging over to the computer, reading a bunch of stuff, eating intermittently, and then shuffling off to bed. Oh, and I go to the gym for a couple of hours each day; that's my highlight, the natural high from the endorphin release. To kind of prove that...

I'm trying, I'm trying... I need a new job sooo badly: being pretty has some very definite downsides when one works with mostly middle-aged women.

Heyas man, thanks for the good luck, I'm gonna need it. I'm hating flat hunting already. I swear, if one more place phones to cancel 15 minutes before a viewing, buildings are being razed to the ground.
As for ND, yup, Barney's still there. Incidentally, he seems like a thoroughly nice bloke and he's one of the most hyperactive people I've ever seen. He's like a Brummie David Yow.
Good luck with your PhD and I hope your supervisor is sufficiently impressed by your dissertation. He bloody well should be. What is it that you're going to be researching in your PhD, by the way?

Hope you guys are well

Just wanted to thank you again for the tunage! You definitely know the way to a girl's heart!
I finally finished my essay on Vico and now have one more essay to finish before I enter dissertation phase of the course. The odd thing about this essay is, contrary to all the others, it's going really well. And the problem with that is I really can't be bothered: I know what my argument is, there's nothing to wrestle with. It's turned out to...

I mentioned over on AnnaLee's Blog that I lived in Japan and used to go running in the mountains, by the lakes, amongst the shrines. It really sent me on a bit of a nostalgia trip so I thought I'd share a little bit of that with you guys.
I lived up in Hokkaido in a little village called Toya where I taught English. Toya's...

A week spent in rhetoric. Pouring over Cicero, Isocrates, Plato et al...it's been interesting. The great and lost art of beautiful communication which we traded in for the natural sciences, cold gray truth and utilitarianism. Given the options our choices are nearly always disappointing.

Yeah, it's a great movie! Thanks for that anecdote about Hoffman being method etc. I can just picture the scene

Oh I want to be surrounded by mountains, lakes and shinto shrines. Yes though I liked FP, MM is infinitely more wonderful in comparison so far. I'm just up to 'News From Yalta' so quite near the start but it's so great. I haven't read Crime and Punishment yet but I loved The Devils and The Idiot so I will soon. So many books, so little time...I wish reading and walking about watching birds were all I had to do sometimes.
Time is the fiction of change; progress is the fiction of humanity.

Damn, that Beksinski work is awesome! Okay, you have to drop whatever it is that you are currently doing and go rent (or preferably, buy) The Seventh Seal. One of the best films ever made.

Oops, you already covered Adorno in my primer, (goes to seep withb egg on his face`}
I am a cartoon character. I know this to be true because my life is a cartoon. I am Willie Coyote on a rocket, ducking a low branch, feeling pleased he'd missed the branch, and then smacking straight into the canyon wall. Or Yosemite Sam catching Bugs and his guns backfiring; Tom evades the bulldog but steps on the rake. These cartoons are not comedy,...

man, i'm sorry, but all the stuff you put up has expired! my fault, i know. best thing to do rather than have the chore of putting it all back up would be to whack it all on a cd as MP3s for me. i'm still well up for doing some trading if you are? let me know on that front.
i have some Black Uruhu on vinyl which hasn't seen the light of day for a long time, and some great Eek a Mouse stuff on a Sun Splash video! i haven't seen that in years either!
you may have heard of a band called Blind Idiot God? i sent a couple of songs to Solipsis a while back and i think he liked 'em. anyway, it's instrumental and is either heavy and complex, or chilled and dub! Bad Brains?! check 'em out, i'm almost certain you'll be into it.
Blind Idiot God:
Stravinsky/Blasting Off
Wide Open Spaces
Wise Man Dub
Raining Dub (you've gotta love that title, haha!!)

Nietzsche rules!
Well, I'm back...sort of! Having pulled myself apart work-wise over the last two weeks to get my essay done my body finally gave up the ghost and I've come down with tonsillitis. I handed the essay in on Friday and the moment I handed it over, I thought to myself, "you know, my throat feels kind of sore..." And so it was- Saturday i've got...

Hex has to be one of the most relaxing albums I've heard in recent times. And I'm always searching for chill music. Takes me to places I've never seen.
Glad you liked the Halo. I was hesitant about putting that one up, but ah well.

Lots of stuff today...
It's been a funny week. On the positive side, I got a distinction for my first essay, so I'm pretty pleased with that. On the down side I'm currently struggling with Nietzsche. My essay is supposed to be 5000 words, I've written 4200 and I've just about set up the argument! Going to have to cut it down somewhat.
