I got thinking about this and wondered if anyone felt like sharing how they found SuicideGirls and decided to become a member? I'm just curious, so it's totally voluntary information if anyone does feel like sharing.
I, myself, found out about the site shortly after it's launch in 2002 and joined just about right away. A friend I had met on the internet while I was in high school who lived in the province I grew up in (Manitoba, Canada) kept in touch with me via instant message (back in those days I think it was AIM) after I went to art school in the USA. He told me about this site that had beautiful tattoos and body art on it and linked the site. I checked it out and it seemed really cool, I had a warm interest in body art at the time but only had my tongue pierced. Shortly after joining I remember getting my nipples pierced, inspired by Katie. The first 4 models I really fell in love with were Mary, Voltaire, Katie and Rose. I remember learning a lot about music from members on this site, and later a lot about video games. Most of the years I was mainly active on the site predate social media, the bulk of it being before 2006.
Anyway, it's a lot of years later. The friend who told me about the site has a wife and kids now. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interactive Media Design from the art school I was attending when I joined. I was 19 back when I joined, and I'm 37 today. It's been about 18 years since then, or at least it will in July or August.
The site has had so many redesigns! It's always been a big coding inspiration, it's been very attractive ever since launch.
Anyway, if anyone feels like sharing here or on their own blog about their SG discovery I'd love to hear! Leave a comment here or something if you write/wrote about it on your blog, otherwise maybe I'll find some other ones through the sites history someday. Haha!
What I'm up to lately is same as it has been lately. I'm still streaming Final Fantasy XIV on Twitch at https://twitch.tv/m00nleupe - I stream almost everyday usually in the late afternoons through the evening. Feel free to come hang out if you want, or not. The chat is always open.
(I started streaming to create the content I was looking for on Twitch myself, but couldn't find - since I started streaming my gameplay has been getting better with each replay that I watch, and I watch all of them. It's been a great project!)
Take care everyone~
