So in order to get into the closed groups, I apparently have to have blogs.
so here is a blog about facebook .
I’m 34 so have had facebook since it started and have been deep in social media since the MySpace days. Got facebook when I was 20 and quickly accumulated all the people I knew from high school and also other friends and co workers and continued to do so over the years, back in the good days when it was still a fantastic tool for communication and social interactions.
After the demolition of my first marriage I found facebook to be a source of depression and anxiety as I found my friend group get smaller and smaller, chuck in a couple of epic fail relationships and I had just had enough of it. So I deleted the whole thing and withdrew from the internet for almost a year and it was a fantastic time in my life (but that’s another blog) I caved in and returned to Facebook towards the end of 2011 after I returned to full time university, as everything had become online and it was a necessity. I have about 65ish people on my currently facebook and have a strict policy for members. If I would not stop in the street and have a conversation with you, then you are not on my facebook, simple. No assholes I went to high school with, no creepy people I used to work with and no moochers trying to buy weed from me. Just legit friends.
These days I find myself using it less and less as the vast volume of bullshit adds up and I seldom see any real posts from people I know in real life. It’s just ads for shit I can’t afford and fake news or shit that’s just not interesting to me in the slightest. I don’t have any privacy concerns as most of my info is fake and I don’t even use my really name (part of not wanting my past to find me ever again) I have never had the Facebook app on my phone or tablet and I have never given them my phone number and the email I used is a junk box I have had for many years. So there is never any information that is secure.
Given that messenger is now a separate app to facebook, I’m starting to think that it has run it’s course and has become obsolete and pointless for me. I believe it will be gone for good by the end of the year. I have instagram and get more entertainment from it and again I have no personal information on it. I have a private page and also a public page for my cat Go look up @ Squishyfacezorg for the adventures of a miniature black panther.
Have any of you felt that life without facebook would be better? Less time attached to a screen would do everyone a world of good. or are you a drone crippled by the fear of FOMO?? Share you thoughts.
