Had an amazing time with Jonny last night.
He has a habit of going for walks and coming home with really cool stories and new friends and all that jive, so last night i decided to go for a walk with him. It wasn't too eventful... at first. We walked across town, went to the big park called the Quad in these here parts. It's big and there's a bunch of walkways through the grass and trees and fountains and benches. I've never lived anywhere that had a "park" that didn't have a swingset. We sat in a gazebo for a while, listening to the crickets and arguing about the damage the Quad must've suffered during the storm and how nice it looked now (yeah, we can argue about ANYTHING). We were both really tired, so we started to make our way back across downtown, home. We were walking past the backside of the Waterson Towers food court when i thought that if the back door was open, we could cut through the building. It was late and dark inside, so i didn't really think that the doors would be open, but one was.
Now, i don't know a lot about Waterson Towers, i don't even know if i'm spelling it right, but if you've ever been to Normal, it's the tallest building there, and, the way the outside walls zigzag horizontally, i always thought it looked like it was made of big chunky legos. But yeah, anyway, it's not the tallest building i've ever been in, but damn it, when we started to explore (all sneaky-like... i'm sure we weren't allowed to be in most of the places we explored), and got up on the roof, it's certainly the tallest building i've ever been on top of. I never thought Normal could look any smaller than i knew it was. I saw Bloomington from up there.
Being up there with Jonny was the most amazing, accidentally-romantic thing i've ever had happen to me. We both just couldn't get enough of looking at the lights and trying to find certain places down below and looking straight down at the brick ground. I'd've never thought we'd be going from the Quad to the tippity-top of Waterson Towers.
I'm sure, with that view, we weren't the first to make love up there.
