Keeping the peace between two dogs is keeping me busy.
The tally so far has been:

1 accident
1 run away scare
Various scuffles/growls
1 attempt at play
Lots of naps (for the dogs)
1 middle of the night need to go outside

I would say that things are going smoothly, all things considered.

We need to start working with some basic commands. It is...

I'd imagine that is similar to a woman trying to control a man with sex who is entirely disinterested in sex?

Only one middle of the night need to go outside? My dogs somehow trained themselves to think that 2am is the ideal time to wake me up to go out.

We got our new puppy [go to hemlock's to see a picture of her].

Now the challenge is to keep peace between the new and established dogs until they figure out the new situation and they get used to each other.

Now its hot whereas yesterday it was cool and two days ago it was cold. Boston has the weirdest weather. It can't make up...

Good luck with your peacekeeping mission!

As to your question the other day, the reaction to the Olympics announcement was disappointment and naturally radio-call-in-show conspiracy-theorizing about the "Anglo-Saxons" and cover stories about how everything was going well for Tony Blair.

Then the next day, the usual sympathy you would expect, as far as I could tell.

However, I didn't have any direct personal conversations with anyone on either topic.

After much deliberation and ideas that ranged from the fascinating to the ludicrous, we finally have a name for our new dog. Now we just need to pick her up on Saturday.

We adopted a new dog this past weekend. She will be moving in next Saturday.

I am sure Hemlock will be filling you in on the details.

We also had a lovely weekend. The weather was ideal - warm, dry, and sunny. We had a relaxing picnic on the grass of Larz Anderson Park in Brookline. Probably the most underused beautiful space in the Boston...

It has been hot and humid - more humid than hot, but uncomfortable nonetheless.

I don't do well in this type of weather - both mentally and physically. So yes, I am in a bit of a funk. Unenthused, tired, and wilted are good descriptions of my state.

I am still happy to be back with my sweetie. Waking up and finding her next to...

Good names for bands:

Evil Dog Totem
Splicing Unit #9
Tartar
Packrat Collision

I will probably be adding to this list.

Not that I will ever be in a band, but it is always good to be prepared.

In an anthopological reading I was doing in college I came across the phrase "Quasi-Talismanic Fish." Best of all, I was able to use it for a band name at a talent show.

I am breaking free from my wife's yoke! She wants me to do things here that I don't want to do!!!!

I will be my own person!

My wife thinks this is CRAPPY. I don't care. But I don't have much more to day other than that my wife thinks I am a HOSER. Ouch.

She also thinks the dog could do a better entry...

Guess what? I am here on my own free will. No wife looking over my shoulder.

I am still not sure what I am doing, but oh well.

I am back in Boston partaking of the delights of living in a city again: trips to Trader Joes, good Asian food, purchasing art, walks in city parks. See, I spent a year in Southeastern Washington State....

"No wife looking over my shoulder..."

Once, I was out at a strip club with J. and some friends, and the dancer was right in front of me, and I was somewhat embarrassed and turned away a bit and J. said, "Watch her! Don't be rude!"

In a spirit of potential awkwardness, I direct you to my comment in hemlock's journal:
