After what could easily be the weirdesttwo months in my history, I am back. Now, how is everyeone?

I am getting out of this town in two days and I can't wait. At the last minute, my destination has been changed, but I'm fine with that. The return to urban civilization is exciting.

Pac Heights is indeed rather expensive, and kinda snobby. Same could be said of cow hollow, nob hill, some parts of russian hill. Outer Sunset and Outer Richmond are closer to the ocean, but further from the fun. Bernal Height, Glen park, those areas are pretty and quiet, but kind of far away.
But, again, these are all generalizations. You might walk straight into an apartment in Pacific Heights and have awesome neighbors, reasonable rent, and a friendly local bar/restaurants scene. So it's probably necessary to troop around a bit and see, but hopefully all that'll help guide your searching.
