I posted this on facebook not too long ago. And while it probably doesn't apply as much here, I'd like to post it again.
So I can't help but look at people updating their status on here with extensive negativity. Obviously, these are all folks who supported McCain in the election. I'd like to say a few words on this.
At this point, the election is over. We need to move on and work together. Being petty and deleting friends who are more "liberal" than you is ridiculous. So is using a Star Wars quote to suggest that the country is somehow less free than it was earlier today. I've seen multiple status updates using these sentiments, including actually 3 of the aforementioned Star Wars quote.
There are also those of you saying how you'd like to move out of the country. I'd like to take you back in time to 2000 and 2004. At those times, many folks like myself jokingly (or less so) said they wanted to get out of the country. At this time, you ripped into them, calling them pathetic or pussies or things less savory. And now, the shoe is on the other foot.
McCain is being gracious. Lets all try to follow his example alright?
So I'd like to sum up with this: Can we just be polite and friendly to each other over the next few days? I'd really like that.
Thank you, and congratulations to President Barack Obama.
