So I guess it's time for a new blog.
Had a birthday last Monday, #37, feeling kinda old. Especially now that I have kids and they are getting bigger and becoming little people instead of just babies. My son turned 4 about a week before my birthday and my daughter will be 2 just before Christmas. They are really great, but so challenging. Riley, my daughter, is well into her terrible two's already.
So... what else? Don't think I've talked about this much since I've been back but I am a big sports fan. Was really hoping the Tigers would make the World Series, but now that looks pretty unlikely. And even if they did, the way they are playing it would probably be painful to watch, just like last year. I want to say at least they won the division and made the playoffs and all that, and it could be worse, much worse... but I had higher expectations for this team. Oh well.
Going to the Lions game on Sunday too, first one in person in many years. I also have University of Michigan football season tickets (well my friend's family does and I buy a seat from them) but I'm not going today. Sold my ticket to one of my friends so his wife could go with him. Worked out pretty well since going to two games this weekend would be a little much I think. Wouldn't have been able to get anything else done. And it's raining today and I don't really feel like sitting in the cold rain for a few hours. Glad the Lions game is indoors tomorrow.
And basketball is staring up again soon, definitely my least favorite of the major sports. But I am a Pistons fan even if they are terrible. I think this year will be better though. I want them to do well, but I'm not losing sleep over it if they don't.
And so I talked about the Tigers, Lions, U of M and Pistons, so red wings is next right? You'll notice i didn't capitalize that team... I tend to do that when i don't like something or someone, lol. But yeah, I am born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, and I'm a fan of all the local teams, except that one. It's a long story that I don't feel like boring you with now though. Most people when I tell them I'm not a red wings fan say oh why don't you like hockey? I want to punch them. I love hockey, it's tied with baseball for my favorite sport, hockey in the winter, baseball in the summer. So yes, I am a hockey fan. I am a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Being as close to Windsor, Ontario as Detroit is, we get the CBC (and now in HD) so I've been watching Hockey Night in Canada for many many years, and the Leafs are on basically every Saturday night. I was really hoping to go to the Winter Classic this year especially since it's almost in my backyard, but tickets are so expensive. I had them for last year's game before it was canceled, but didn't get them for this year's. Oh well, watching on tv will be more comfortable anyway. Or at least that's what I keep telling myself.
I mentioned early about basketball being my least favorite of the "major sports" Some people would say there are only 3 (baseball, football and basketball). That is wrong of course because there is no way hockey should be left out ever. But for me there are 6 major sports. I also count soccer and lacrosse. I would love to see Detroit get an MLS team or pro lacrosse team (indoor or outdoor), but for now I'm content with U of M soccer and lacrosse and Detroit City FC soccer. If you live in or around Detroit and love soccer, you HAVE to check it out, it's a great time. Even if you don't really like soccer, it's a fun event. Seriously, you go once and I guarantee you'll go back.
Alright, well I guess that's enough of my sports rant for now, lol. I'll have a long day of watching the Manchester City game, Michigan vs. Indiana, Tigers vs. Red Sox and Leafs vs. Blackhawks. With some laundry and other household chores sprinkled in.
Hope everyone is doing well and not too stressed out by the new site, lol. I still have my problems with it, but I'm growing to like it. Still need to get a few more pics on here, maybe I'll get around to that one of these days. I wish I didn't lose all my pics from when I was here years ago. Wonder where they went? Oh well.
