I want to ask you to take a moment to remember our veterans today.
Men who served and are serving our country as well as men no longer with us,
Some men that are my personal heroes....
My Uncle Johnny Stanton who served with Pattons third army in Africa, Italy and Europe.
My Uncle Arthur Stanton served in the navy in the pacific.
My Grandfather Ervin Shirey Sr. He was career military and served in WW2, and Korea, he was an officer and was called back to active duty to train young officers during the first gulf war.
My Uncle Ervin L Shirey Jr. Career Army
My Uncle Gayle Boykin Career navy Master Chief, and his son Mark also Career Navy Retired as a Commander and teaching rotc in Pensacola now
My wifes Mother Wanna Rutledge-Mathis Army Nurse in Korea
My wifes Uncle Frank Green Air force retired master sergeant served in Vietnam.
My stepmothers father Col. Don Watt Retired served in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam
My Father who served in the Army during the Vietnam era.
Most of these men and women are no longer with us and those that are still with us are my Father, Col Watt, my uncle Lou, and my cousin Mark. They never talk about their service though they were proud to have served. My Grandfather and Uncle Johnny both won purple hearts, and bronze stars. These men and women are my personal heroes. They served their country out of duty and a sense of honor, they did not brag about it, but all were and are proud of their service.
I am proud of all of them and all that are serving now.
