I received my EoTech 557 SOCOM spec holographic weapon sight with 3x magnifier in the mail the other day. Was super stoked, until I actually got to use it today. Now I'm MONDO, super stoked. I zeroed it perfectly to my weapon and went on a couple night patrol. The night vision compatability is beyond expectations, and being able to reach out at 3x magnification with a holo sight is a huge advantage. I can't wait to mount it on my M1A SOCOM 16 when I get back. Also mounted my pistol holster to my chest rig, which works out much better than a cumbersome drop-leg holster on patrols. I realize nobody knows what I'm talking about right now, but I just had to express my enthusiasm!
Also, it seems I might actually stand I decent chance at being sent to Sniper school before I go to Special Forces selection when I get back. That would be beneficial in several ways. It's always been something I wanted to do (although I know little to nothing about it), and if I pass and become sniper qualified, I'll have a better chance of being selected for Special Forces. I'll have to have my close associate the Baron (ex swat sniper) mentor me into shape. Overwhelming challenges, but I can't wait!
