Well, I ended up making my mind up and going for it. I signed my reenlistment contract on Tuesday. Even though I had approached the subject from every angle, it still felt scary to be signing away years of my life to the army again. It almost felt like I was betraying myself, I had told myself I wasn't going to do it for so long now. But after calming down and letting it settle in, it still feels like I made the right decision. I'll start putting my Special Forces Selection Packet together as soon as possible. I also got a slot for Sniper school out of the deal, a significant bonus and 1 semester of payed college during work-hours. If I time things optimally I should be able to get pass Selection, go to college while waiting for my school date for SF Q-course phase 2 etc., and then disappear for ever from the regular army. I can't wait to get started. Just a month ago I had absolutely nothing to look forward to after I got home from Baghdad. It's pretty pitiful when you can't even look forward to coming home from a war zone. Now I can't wait to start tackling this challenge and finally pursuing my dream. Everything has a chance of falling into place, as long as I refuse to give up. And that's a given.
They actually gave us a break for Thanksgiving. Pretty cool of our Company commander, I did not see that coming. The only patrol we went on from our combat outpost was to the International Zone to get some Thanksgiving Lunch. Other than we've had the day off, almost unthinkable.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Please be safe over there...and if you need anything, let me know and I will send it out ASAP.
