This is one of the reasons I hate the regular army. When I was a civilian, I associated the military with discipline, efficiency and professionalism among other things. But instead the army is just one big amateur circus, and the clown act just isn't funny at all. Their idea of discipline is doing shit that makes no sense without questioning why. Their idea of efficiency is to do things in such a manner that they look good in front of superiors, no matter the cost in tactical sense or effort for the men. Their idea of professionalism is looking like marching band even though you're dirty, sweaty, tired and you have much more important things to worry about than whether you wear the right hat, have a fresh haircut, don't roll up your sleeves....It's a bad joke. And then you have the ensuing soap operas when people like me clash with people that like to make their subordinates suffer to feel superior and self gratified. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only reasonable leader in my platoon. Unfortunately I'm also one of the only ones that's willing to stand up for the men, which ends up getting me in conflicts with my superiors and collegues. I just will never understand why people can't handle the responsibility of authority without abusing it. As leaders we have a responsibility to take care of our men. That's supposed to be our top priority as non commissioned officers, it's even in the fucking creed. But for some reason all that is forgotten as soon as people feel the power of their rank. Suddenly all that's left is a huge ego, a lot of privileges, and a responsibility only to themselves and their superior's whose asses their lips are permanently attached to. It makes me sick.
I can't wait to get out of my unit.
I can't wait to get out of my unit.

Thanks a lot! I'm feeling a little better today, I actually went out and ran errands rather then laying around, moping all day. As for the piercings, well, they're neat, but even outside of the military they're not very acceptable. I know my job doesn't really allow them. I just sneak by sometimes. I can't wait to get more...
