it's that time of year again where I find out how much bills/charges are going to go up...
of course, most of the household bills are going up - but that's happening all over the area, so I expected it
this means that it's going to be HIGHLY unlikely I'm going to save a thing to be able to vaca next year
and VERY unlikely I'll get ANYthing from taxes back next year, since this year the N0bamacare Uninsured Bullshit Fee took WAY over half of the taxes I would've received
with my luck, I'll actually have to pay in next year...
frightening when you think that the amount of my taxes that Presidential ASshat is taking from me is still less than it would be to HAVE insurance
*coughs*fuckyouN0bama*coughs*
ANYways, this week I :
got myself a haircut and a dustubster
fought off a cold due to spending a 4a morning freezing my ass off in what I threw on due to someone pulling a fire alarm
realized either my pants are shrinking or I'm expanding
ondoubtedly affirmed my social sense of "often" and "quite often" is VERY skewed
as per the latter, through unlikely odds I happened upon a friend who was in a drive-thru en route through the Cities (as I was walking en route to my bank for laundry quarters)
this is a friend I think of as seeing "often"
during the short convo, as it was freezing outside, they reminded me we haven't seen each other in 5 years and that it'd been 5 years since we'd seen each other before THAT
and that's when the realization kicked in, once I was back home...
1) The friends I think of as seeing "quite often" are ones I only see once a year or two
2) The friends I think of as seeing "often" I only see once or twice every 10yrs
3) The rest of my friends I've only seen once or twice in 25 years... else I haven't seen them since longer than 25 years!
so, yeah, my social sense is off just a wee bit
and, no, it's not as if this concerns me - after all, 95% of my friends live over 200 miles away, which is one HELLUVA walk
( particularly with those that don't even live IN-country anymore )
I'm quite used to doing things alone, which is probably why I didn't even realize I hadn't seen friends in such a long period of time
and, when I do, it's usually just a quick 15minute convo or happenstance that wasn't even pre-planned, with no time to just hang-out
*shrugs*
now that I've noticed it, it's rubbed on me a bit, but it's not as if it's an easy fix...
I can't expect friends to move within walking distance of me just so I can hang-out
it's not as if I can just call someone up and say "hey, why don't you drive the 300-some miles for a coffee or restaurant and b.s.?"
*sighs*
ANYways...
this morning's twit/fb post pretty much says it all in concern to how my vacation planning is going (also known as "it sucks") :
I am officially burnt-out on finding any affordable places to vacation where I haven't been before and won't end up stuck in a hotel room
car rentals are out of the question - every place now requires proof of insurance or has raised their rental insurance from 100-300 per day
on the cusp of going to the GM to use up vaca time via 3-day weekends... but the last time I did this, 3day after 3day nigh drove me mental
of course, the next couple weeks are going to be busy as hell workwise so it's unlikely I'm going to WANT to be near a computer after work
yes, I realize it's going to be harder to get a vacation set-up the closer I get - since once I find something, I have to affirm it with work and there needs to be enough time period between request and actual date to be feasable to affirm
one day off is one thing (as long as it's not beginning or end of month), but several days - let alone a week - yehhh, unlikely if it's less than a couple months away.
ANYways... I should do some laundry and clean the apartment a bit (yay new dustbuster!)
this week's random twits ::
2/21 :
dare I brave these pain-cold temps and give in/get a haircut?
my hair is bugging the hell outta me... plus I want to pick up a dustbuster
a'yep, t'is one of those very rare days a vehicle would be nice - laundrification ritual #42, then I'll re-ponder the haircut/dustbuster...
alright, ain't gonna get any warmer, time t'put on a few layers and take a healthy jaunt out into the wasteland for aforementioned haircut
2/22 :
I'm intrigued how "goth" is different to different people:
tattoos or unusual hair colour or wearing leather/black lace or being pale or...
2/23 :
4am, MF'ing fire alarm... which SOMEbody pulled, no sign of an actual fire
*growls*... 20minutes, out in the f'n cold *shivers*
"coldest morning we've had all winter"... and I was out there in just a jacket, jeans, and shoes - no f'n wonder I still feel cold *shiver*
2/26 :
either I'm expanding slightly or my jeans are shrinking... I say the latter - looks like I'll be jeans hunting for a size larger soon :(
2/27 :
I now have a ghetto-rock themesong when I walk past certain warehouse personnel :
"Shorty the piiimp
he walks with a liiimp..."
I am amused
2/28 :
it's undeniably affirmed - my social sense of "often" and "quite often" is VERY skewed from what people normally think of them as... *demn*
