Spring is here, my lovelies and gentlefolk... well, technically, anyways, as the single-digit temps and snowfall can attest to.
ah... life in the upper midwest of the US of A - I've even seen it snow in July *sighs*
ANYways...
in the middle of last night I had a dream about fighting in a multi-level "mega-mall" that segued into being in a music store where my metal cred was questioned by an '80s 'head who looked like someone I knew who died in the '90s...
which leads to the following ::
I prefer Megadehh over Metallica - hate me as much as you like, but it's true.
I was a late bloomer and "grew up" to Obituary, Voivod, and Death with King Diamond being my go-to for latenight roadpacking.
I'd take Doro over Lita anyday, but if I could have 'em both in a threesome, life would be complete.
Lacuna Coil is metal and Evanescence will NEVER be, no matter what the awards shows said.
I like my 'rÿche with a side-over of 'tage for when I'm powerhungry.
Saxon was my leather, with apologies to Judas Priest...
Udo of Accept brought the camo, Iron Maiden the denim, and Motörhead and Testament the dirt...
Death Angel and Slayer kept us thrashing while Exodus and Anthrax led the mosh...
and Angel Witch and Iron Maiden each kept it heavy in their own way.
obviously there were many, many more and this doesn't even touch on every band I "grew up" to, let alone segued into thereafter or the new stuff that keeps the thunder rollin'...
this reminds me of the multitude of albums I'm still looking for on CD, many of which are hard as hell to find (like Angel Witch!)
I was happily shocked, though, and lucky as hell in my timing to pre-order the Saxon "complete studio album collection '79-88" when I did...
TEN of Saxon's albums that I only paid 15$ (including shipping) for - the price of which has jumped since to over 60$
(it'll arrive next week... Helsyeh!)
and, yes, I like to actually OWN my music (aka have it on CD) rather than download and/or "steal" it.
it might be just me and my "old school" mentality, but it's my way of showing my appreciation for the band (they obviously don't get paid for it when it's downloaded/"stolen")
and, hells, if I was in a band I'd much rather hear of someone saying they bought my album(s) rather than they downloaded A song.
Appreciate The Music, my friends! And keep on rockin', rollin', and whatever else may feel good at the time :)
