I've now been back on the west coast of beautiful Vancouver Island for nearly a week, so it's time for a big update on all that's been going on.
First a recap of the Vancouver trip. As planned I went down in my camper van, met @Felynx at the airport, and then we spent four days hanging out together doing lots of fun stuff – shopping, photo shoots, interesting nightspots – and had a great time. After a few months of isolation in the Yukon, she went crazy, shopping mostly for clothes, art supplies and teas.
She also managed to do a couple independent photo shoots. I had three SG shoots booked, but all got cancelled for various reasons. That's okay though, I still got to do the Dezi & Felynx bloody shoot and the StormyEnt protest, so I was happy.
Anyway we also went to a couple interesting pubs, including the Storm Crow Tavern, which has an emphasis on Dungeons & Dragons and gaming, and to EXP, a bar devoted to video games. She really loved the second one, which had a Nintendo DS tourney going on the night we were there. Here's her enjoying one of the many girly drinks she had:
The next day we headed for the island, where she quickly landed a job, and now it's been a week's worth of working, beach life, tea drinking, and other nonsense and explorations. A few days ago while out near a beach, I snapped this photo of her with a giant slug:
I gotta say, if you don't mind me being frank for a minute, it's been an awesome experience being friends with Felynx (and we are that – we're best friends – we're not a couple). We hang out, drink tea, watch videos, really normal everyday stuff. With the photography we create this fantasy world here where we put her on a pedestal of goddess-like beauty and femininity – which leads to everyone being in love with her – but honestly, she's just a normal girl making her way through life. (Well, she's not normal, like everyone she's unique in her own ways, but you know what I mean). What am I trying to say? Um, don't act creepy and weird around her, just because she's beautiful, treat her with respect as you would anyone else.
Her immediate goals are learning to surf, making art, finding friends and working, while enjoying life and drinking copious amounts of tea. Oh, and also doing lots more creative photography with me ;) Here's one more from yesterday's deer-head-in-the-rainforest shoot:
