Locals must hate that phrase.
After having spent two days walking around the city/state of Singapore, I decided I was no longer in Asia, for the following reasons:
1. It's very very clean and there isn't garbage anywhere.
2. Vehicles drive slowly and orderly.
3. Pedestrians (excluding me) obey traffic signals and don't jaywalk.4. Things cost nearly as much as they do in Canada.
5. There's a lack of beggars.
6. Nobody will haggle.
7. Not one, but TWO tall buildings have spaceships docked on top of them (even in Astana or Dubai, you only ever see one at a time).
8. The toilets are “normal” – there’s an actual seat and not just a hole in the ground; they encourage the use of toilet paper; and the toilet paper can be flushed!
9. Tap water is safe to drink.
Anyway, here’s a pile of boring photos. I’ll post more of Singapore tomorrow.
