I'm now in the northern Thai city of Phayao. A few hours ago I took this photo of the sunset, on the shore of a large lake which sits next to the town. It was cloudy, so there was no actual sun to be seen setting, but I like this photo anyhow.
For the previous three nights I stayed in Phrae, another off-the-beaten-track northern town, and the four images below are from there. It was a quiet town, lots of beautiful temples, and great food.
Anyone know what this weird banana-like fruit is called?
I stayed in an odd guesthouse. It was a century-old teak house run by a crazy vegetarian Thai lady. She claimed to be an English teacher, though her English wasn't that good. Still, she was very nice, giving me tea and bananas.
