Three things have kept me from this site

Morrissey concert
Wedding and Reception
Drug and Alcohol bender

Morrissey's band were sporting the Jobriath t-shirts. It was on a sunday and he sang EVERY DAY IS LIKE SUNDAY. He gave a look in my direction when I screamed "SING SOME JOBRIATH, STEVEN". Everyone else was just randomly screaming I LOVE YOU or whatever. It was interesting that more guys were rushing the stage and grabbing at the Mozzer than girls. Personally, I'd rush the stage to steal some of Boz Boorer's guitars.

Also got to check out Jason Molina's Magnolia Electric Company a couple of weeks ago. He carries the Crazy Horse mantle quite nicely.

Live music is a temporary thrill for me. You only get that moment for the buck. Almost all of the shows I've been to this year have been legacy artists. The only artist I'm interested in seeing in the near future is Nick Cave. Here is a sample tab for an evening of concert attendance:

$15 gasoline to Detroit
$20-$30 in alcohol
$20-$60 for ticket

Maybe if I lived in a city like Minneapolis, where there was a thriving underground noise scene, I could get away with going to more shows. A decent noise or free jazz bill with local artists can't really run more than $5-$8. Most of the acts in Toledo are shitty metal, shitty rap, indie disco Devo bullshit, BLUESHAMMER wankery, emo-punk-hardcore blockheads, or just plain old blueprint Indie-rock. There is probably a few garage rock stragglers here and there. I guess my "live show" is my Sony 5-Disk changer. It's cheaper and doesn't tempt me with dangling bottles of booze.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY
The Stranglers "Peaches"
Prince "Irresistable Bitch"
The Smiths "This Charming Man"
