Driving home from the town 20 miles east, enjoying the long stretches of darkness (as much as one can while being hyper-attentive for deer and other wildlife on the road) a glimmer in the distant west caught my eye. It was the moon. It must've been the first day after a new moon and I don't think I've ever seen the arc so slim, so...

Snowed in the heartland - good slow wet snow - beneficial to all the agricultural endeavors (or so I'm told)...and it melted off the streets very quickly. Perfect or near perfect snow.

Of course the snow tends to shorten my walks with the dog - Arlo - rescued spaniel, <mumble>, <eerrrgtt> mix. A little too exuberant to be 6 to 7 years old. I try...

virtual cigars are on me tonight - my step daughter and her husband had a baby girl - 9'1" and 20 " long. Her name is Ilise (for font channenges it is eye-ell-eye-ess-eee) and she and her mother are doing well. That brings me to 4 grandchildren ... which boggles my mind - especially since I'm not yet 50.

I have a couple of questions...

Congratulations on your grand-daughter. My step-daughter just made me a grandma again. But I only have 2 so far. I wouldn't be surprised if I had more than 4 by your age, at the rate I'm going. kiss

It's past the new year and I find myself still wrestling with distrations and complications - difficulty concentrating. Life is more complex than was guaranteed in the recruiting posters. Somehow I thought that it would at least diminish with the turning of the calendar. -- Just Life I Guess

I get the great good fortune to be on call this week, It's about the 1st...

So.. you're "ON CALL" -aye.
First time in a year sounds sweet.

May 2005 bring us clearer understanding of our human situation - individually and as a part of all humanity; greater strength to improve "the street corner where we stand"; more tolerance for those views different from our own - but arestill valid in their own right; and more faith - in our own co-creative role building reality and, should you choose, in " ... the...

Some healthy anger at the Tobacco Deamon is an improvement over two days ago.

Well.. life's like a wonderul adventure that mostly sucks all the time.
Humans are for the most part selfish whores, utterly unaware of the fact for the most part.

I like the new picture - any story behind it or the previous one?

Kinda-Sorta - I relate to both images is all. The caged coon was trapped along with it's mother and sister by my brother and I in our attic when i lived in Maryland . i love raccoons for lotsa reasons. The new image is all about the pipe (Well mostly about the pipe). The 16'' Churchwarden is my favorite. I've got quite a few im fond of trading off between. Aromatic flowers mostly, no tobbacco. I love the smells.

Hope your distractions don't suq too bad. Look forward to reading about your happenings in the journal entrys. Haven't seen you or been able to get around long myself in a little while.

Argh.. this thing needs a sandbox

So the Light is returning albeit slowly. I like the winter - mostly the dark but I'd also prefer cold to hot climates. I would like to believe the stories of blurring the lines between the worlds at Hallowe'en and on through the winter and somehow winter seems more introspective - almost sacred. The hyper-capitalist (cruel-capitalist someone called it) Christmas season grates on my nerves...

Merry Solstice today! As one that tends to the Bah Humbug side of the season I'm sure you'll all be proud that I'm observing some of the positive things. Walking the dog (okay - he walks me but I figure it's his hour of the day to explore) around the streets of this little town is proving to be quite eye-opening. There seem to be...

Embarking on new lifestyle. My wife is moving to CO so she can be Grandma (help her daughter and granddaughter and son-in-law get ready for the next grandchild - due in Feb. She's not moving out permanently - though she hates living in this particular town in the middle of nowhere. So I'm left with the challenge of not working too much (being an IT...

I thought I did this earlier. Recovering from the election. I think a lot of people are going to suffer, and we're going to lose some of what the rest of the world saw as what made America great. Also, paranoid isolationism has a tendency to spiral in on itself - taking the behavior to an extreme. I was surprised to look in my Online...

Geeze - the caption Bush's photograph thread in culture(?) is a hoot! I try to be open minded but I simply cannot comprehend any positive reason to vote for this man. I know not all of his supporters are fools so I'm just confused.

More distractions ... in Poughkeepsie, NY for a 3 day class. at the IBM facility.
