Let's see... They'll most likely be a series of postings over the next couple of days as Monday is the b-day and there may be odd bits to report about the drive towards it (doubtful, highly doubtful - the underlying pressure to write due to excitement as opposed to the more likely thumb twittling).
Today marked another spurt as resumes and applications flew out of my hands and into those of others'... The excellent news on this front is I've already lined up a job - not just good news kids, great news! I gave a ring to a good friend of both AmazonRed13 and myself who I'd briefly mentioned in my previous post. The charming fellow's a chef and a damn good one at that. He is in the very beginnings of putting together a kitchen crew for a restaurant he's opening and I made the list!
The bad news is it may be as much as a month, maybe more until I report to work. As I may be required to buy uniforms, new knives and other odds and ends for the gig. Added to the lack of being able to collect unemployment and needing to generate rent, utilities, ferret food, etc., I'll still have to find something, anything to rack up overtime on in the meantime.
In between these dealings, I've been performing some paintings duties for an aunt of mine who's been in and out of the hospital for the past couple of weeks. Prior to becoming overwhelmed by recent circumstance, she'd been garnering interest from her two sons in painting her front doors as well as some miscellaneous trim on their house. The boys being twits did and have still refused in any such helpful chores. Rather than letting her trying to tap my mom for the job, I stepped in and volunteered to fix a couple of other small projects that are within within my limited contracting grasp. At the very least, it's served as an opportunity for me to listen to Davis Sedaris' newest book on my iPod.
Other plans, you ask..? Tomorrow Bent plays Humphrey's East a whole five blocks from my flat. Perhaps an early b-day drinking opportunity? On Sunday, my mom agreed to teach me my grandfather's legendary chicken recipe. As the prep for the dish requires two days, it'll be fit to serve in time for cupcakes and cards on Monday. Other than that, kind readers, catching up on reloading music into my newly reformatted computer and glowing that iTunes works again.
