Fun from my world in the past few days... I'd gotten to thinking in the shower the other day about torrent downloads that'd gone awry in my past. The most infamous have been attempts to download past seasons of Good Eats. I am a nerd, I like playing w/ food ergo my favorite TV show is hosted by a foodie Mr. Wizard. Anyhoo, my successes in gaining past episodes have resulted in half or 3/4 downloads before the particular torrent host site sinks under the weight of a polite note from the RIAA. The day before yesterday I performed a mundane Google search and re-discovered another site hosting seasons 1-7. As I'm writing this, I'm choking my bandwidth hoarding this good thing before it disappears again. Yes, if I paid for cable this whole process of watching TV would be far less problematic but, less geeky...somehow I don't think so.
The other computer chore I finally got around to involves my Friendtech hacked-Xbox... I'd been wanting to use it in someway similar to the Microsoft Media Extender or other ways of streaming content. Well I busted out w/ the trusty 100' roll of Cat5e cable, cleaned house in my Dell for proper storage and share space and got the whole thing up & running. There seems to be no breakthrough method of bookmarking folders and files within Xbox Media Center...well, I'm sure there is but I'm just too lazy to look proper.
In town today is the Freddie Fixer parade which will clear up traffic for my pedalling around later... I'm still literally penniliess due to that flubbed transaction of almost two weeks ago. I've exactly enough to pay my $2 library fine and check out the odd movie or two. This evening will be making split pea and lentil soup and streaming season 6 of Good Eats to my TV, dashing back and forth from stirring to grinning like an idiot.
