Saturday morning, 11:31 AM - 5 hours 15 minutes of sleep received. ManRay was fantastic!!! I think the overriding comment or question that went along w/ the night was, "Was the trip up worth it?" That points out how silly it is to use distance as a barrier to visiting amazing friends. Whenever I feel skiddish or have to use that as a measured weight in whether to see and hangout w/ someone, I should second-guess myself. That's something I'll need to remember.
Perhaps I should take one thing at a time since I haven't updated since Wednesday...how did that happen!? Thursday I went into work for my annual job performance review. I'm well aware of what strengths and weaknesses I have on the job and at times, feel meetings like these are a waste of my time. I'm very much the problem solver - I'd rather put my energy towards working on something I have difficulty in rather than have a meeting w/ three people talking about what color this problem might be. The main discussion theme going into the meeting was job promotion. Six months ago that was the projected goal and what "t's" needed crossing to accomplish it. The good news is I indeed got promoted. The even better news is a jumped a rung on the promotion ladder... For all intents and purposes, skipping the middle position in favor of the far more advanced. What I'm now interested in is pay difference. Promotions happily at times go hand in hand w/ raises and I haven't heard yet whether I'll be now paid what I'm worth.
RIchard III was a treat to be able to catch... I'd read the play before but never had the opportunity to see it. LittleSister, her co-conspirator Chris, ElmCityDrunk and myself braved the settling dew and porta-potties for the awesome performance.
The only frictional aspect to the trip to ManRay was Labor Day Weekend - Friday Night traffic. I hadn't forseen leaving much earlier than I'd planned. That and not having eaten much all day. So, we made awesome time due to the fact that I drive like I own four radar detectors though, I really have none. We made the usual pit stop once onto the Mass Pike but we booked out as quickly as possible. I was dressed like a young and dapper Johnny Cash was openly stared at and alienprincess was oggled by others for her deliciousness.
Gumbercules made us incredibly welcome at his club. AP and myself were talking about the 'country mouse, city mouse' effect at the bar. ManRay is big! More particularly, much bigger than our provincial selves our used to in CT. Most of the fun and fodder of the evening was the people watching and how much more of it there was to offer. The ever-lovely Su joined us in the commentary-celebration and in booze through the rest of the evening. Very happily, he will again tonight!!!
RIght now, I can't wait for Bound! There's now a bunch of people in state that I will always look forward to hanging out with! I figuring on being there for 10pm - Early enough to be able to force people out of the nook that we'll end up needing for the size of our crowd. Rolecall sounds like: Allied, LittleSister, ElmCityDrunk, alienprincess, Laerkai, KareBear, King_Of_Skulls, a probable SmokeyDaBear and last and least, myself. Am I forgetting anyone? If so, I'll gladly buy you a drink.
