Yep, so I'm at work...now into hour #16 out of 25-26 hour shift. *thinks about overtime* Yeah... I've busted out w/ my Piece o' Shit laptop and am cruising along at a pokey 28.8 bps. I volunteered for possibly another 1-3 shifts over the next 2-3 days. The stress level will waver from tepid to really, really undesirable. The main reason I find myself willing to work back at this other group home is it reminds me how fucking lucky I was to transfer out a year ago!
The guys that I work w/ now are remarkable for their levels of functionality in the world... The client at the house that I'm temping at could qualify to be re-institutionalized. He's been several times and the reason it hasn't been seriously reconsidered is how horrible the behavioral set-backs have been in the past. Thinking on how this 33 year old man had stretches in receiving shock therapy makes me willing to be a little more patient in some of his enormous daily difficulties.

what a tough work week, my dear! yikes!! it sounds like you are hanging in there, though, which is very impressive. you have such wonderful compassion for your residents. they are really lucky to have someone who cares as much as you do there. now, if you could just pare those shifts down a bit, you could care for yourself as well, yes? hope that you are carrying on and not to lost down the caffiene well.
