Okay, going back to work wasn't as bad as I thought... The residents of the house were especially tickled and the staff've had their hands full in my absence. I was able to tag along w/ a couple of the fellas to their weekly lunch outing out on the town. Usually, it's the Subway in Westville... Today it was a chinese buffet joint near Merritt ex. 59. Nothing like free General Tso's chicken, lo mein, sushi & veg. fried rice as a 'welcome back'.
I stopped by the library to raid their CD's again...3rd or 4th time this week. Today's picks were: Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway & John Lee Hooker - The Ultimate Collection vols. 1 and 2. Little known fact about ol' John Lee - He was the author of over 500 songs, released dozens upon dozens of albums, was cited as a influence by an entire generation of blues guitarists, was inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and he never learned to read or write! When I first learned that I was stunned.
And now for something completely different:
Untitled
I think ants are carrying
small hairs from Walt Whitman's beard
(maybe those loosened by tugging at his chin
while proofreading his poems under a tree, watching a bee,
or maybe plucked by some young lover as a memoir,
or maybe those that fell from a scissors snip as he trimmed
his beard while no one was near
scrunching over a lake shore)
and hiding them under my bed,
inside my stereo,
into my mouth, pushing them through my cheeks
as I sleep.
It seems as if AlienPrincess is begging to be bothered so, I believe that's all folks!

loveLOVe the verse, par usual. its an amusing image, especially since i have the beat for "the ants go marching" (the children's version not the dave matthews version) in my head. perhaps written by john lee? seriously, that is amazing - 500 songs - yeesh. can you imagine? i'm glaringly ignorant of the blues, but duly impressed nonetheless.
glad that the return to work went well. yr job sounds endlessly fascinating. i bet you and ap have amazing discussions about the various dimensions of the human mind, v. cool.
