Is it just me or is the new series of Doctor Who getting a bit crap?
I consider myself a feminist. However I'm tiring of the token uber-feminism that sees the female characters seemingly constantly sniggering at the expense of the Doctor, who fumbles around like he's hallucinating while hazily waking up from surgery. OOOOO ....AREN'T MEN SSSTOOOOOPPPIIIDDD!
Yes I know the programme has been a male-domnated chauvo-fest for decades, therefore this argument automatically makes me seem like a squealing disenfranchised hypocrit.
But somehow this 'balance correction' doesn't quite work. Female empowerment? Only if the females still have to be gorgeous etc, apparently. This is replacing patriarchy with patronism.
One thousand British pounds says the new Emperor Dalek has a big pair of red lips on the front and disintegrates other daleks for being 'naughty'. Roll on, Cyber-bitches.

At least the 2nd episode was philosophically interesting. How much can you force a creature to obey you? After recently losing my sub pet who had helped carry me far, I was quite reflective. I just wish she had the gratitude of a space whale.
There's also an uncomfortable amount of psyco-babble. It's like watching Star Trek, where the more you actually know about physics, the more full of shit it seems. If I hear 'quantum' used as a get out clause for another ridiculous explanation I'm going to dig up Neils Bohr himself and stick him outside BBCs studio.
Speaking of angry rants, I now how lots of free time and I would love an invite to your pub nerd gatherings for some proper discussions?
