The reason I've had so much going on is that I'm detached from my battalion that I activated with and am now serving as a member of the NATO training mission. I'll be operating with a small team of Marines somewhere in Afghanistan training & advising National Police so that they will someday, hopefully soon, be able to take over the security of their country....

Say hi to the girls for me.; they're the bestest.
Right now I am the busiest unemployed guy I know. Part of this is that most of the work I came back to do needs to be done outside, and winter is almost here. This whole thing with my brothers' place pushed me back three precious weeks, since his place needed to get handled in order to get the furnace and sump pump repair guys in (he had no heat; the water took out the furnace, which finally got his ass in gear after a year of pretending the problems didn't exist). The repair guys wouldn't even step into that basement and I don't blame them; the place was a disaster.
Still have to get my truck re-animated; still need to replace the bearings, seals and tires on the trailer and find the MCO for the boat in order to put it all on the market and get it out of my yard.

Was a fun, hectic weekend out in the field doing counter-IED training. Wore me out running around in my new MTV flak vest (Modular Tactical Vest) with armor plates after almost a year of no military action. Lots of hiking up and down hills and running about. been out in California for a week now. The weather has been mostly gorgeous. A little chillier than I was ready for. Can't recommend the cuisine though. Maybe once I get off of base that will change.
