SG ate my blog twice, apparently because I didn't give it a category. Screw you SG bot..right in the data port.
anyhow...third time:
Went out to look at the garden this morning since work hasn't bothered to call me in yet. Still slow this late in the year is a bad sign. Anyhow, the tomato plants are going crazy growing in all directions and the green onions and peppers are starting to get going. I could smell the cilantro from halfway across the yard so I had to pick some. Maybe I'll make up some eggs and potatoes to put them in. But for now I can sit here with the smell of my delicious, cheap, Folger's coffee and the smell of freshly crushed cilantro leaves on my fingers.
Weekend was good. Was supposed to work late late Friday night on a building for the city ( we have to work on those buildings when the occupants are gone for the day so as not to inconvenience them....as though they wouldn't be when their air conditioning goes out in the middle of the summer) but the job was cancelled so I just stayed up late Friday night reading. I've gotten started on The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.
Sunday was fun. Went up to Austin with Melanie, stopping along the way for breakfast tacos in a little hill country town. And the roommates came up as well and we took all the dogs to Red Bud Isle. It's a little island in the middle of the Colorado Rive/Town Lake in the posher/greener section of south and west Austin. It's got a nice wide lane that loops around and hidey places in the trees and spots where the dogs can jump into the water and get back out. It wasn't very crowded due to the on and off rain, but it didn't rain on us too much while we were there. The two pugs dashed about and made friends and the boxer had a fun time swimming in the river. I'll get some photos up in a while.
One of the advantages of my job is I get to climb around on buildings that most people aren't just allowed to walk around on, so I can get some interesting vantage points. I was working on top of San Antonio's City Hall last week. Problem was the only camera I had with me is a seriously disappointing little Olympus point and shoot that I use to document equipment issues and CYA type stuff. So I had to work with the photos I took to make them look artistically crappy rather than just crappy.

Fresh cilantro is one of the best smells, ever. My grandmother makes a delicious marinade with it that suffuses the house with its wonderful, pungent odor, so it always reminds me of her. It's delicious on roasted corn, and a million other things.
You're lucky to have a garden! I miss gardening back home, even though I was awful at it, and I find myself looking at "plant porn" (catalogs) a lot lately.
Those dogs sound lucky to have you guys taking them out on adventures like that.
Hope you're well out there, mister man.
