So me and buddha are just relaxing in our new house. yup. house. out with the old lame apartment and in with the new house. It's awesome. it's an old 1800s house downtown with bay windows (really the bedroom is one big bay window, its an almost circular room. actually, its an octagon) and 12 foot ceilings, and fireplaces in every room and a back...

What am I going to do with my life? Someone please tell me, because I sure as hell don't know where I'm going. It seems as every intentional step forwards is two steps backwards.

It's not that I'm doing bad with money (though things aren't where I'd like them to be)

I'm in a job that I don't much mind. Really, I love the job,...

Hate the new layout. Sadly, I'm getting used to it.

What is it you'd like to do? Do you know of a dream-job that you'd love to have?

I wish I had some answers for you on this count. My new job is making me happy, it's not the most money I've ever made, but working for a non-profit just feels better. For most of us, just having a nice place to work is about all we could dream of. A few lucky souls (like K_Rex) have always known what they want to do, and are actually doing it and, usually, loving it. I know I floundered around a lot trying to find something that I was happy doing.

So, first thing is do you know of a job that you would love to have? if so, then it's a matter of deciding how to get there. if not, then you have to make a list of things you love to do and those you don't. See if there's any job opportunities there. A career counselor might be able to help point you in the direction, but that of course requires money to see one.

Are you a vegetarian?
I was for a bit, but missed cheeseburgers and pepperoni pizza!

2.
If no, do you eat pork?
pepperoni, ham, bacon, hot dogs, sausage, pork tenderloin, pork roast, and pork chops. yes.

3.
Do you recycle?
that service isn't easily accessible in this area.

4.
Do you feel knowledgeable about what is in the food that you are eating?
no. I'm still puzzled by mayonnaise.

5.
Do you take steroids or growth hormones?
no.

6.
Would you knowingly consume food with steroids or growth hormones in it?
that's a tricky question. most foods, meat and vegetable, have "special vitamins"!

7.
Would you knowingly eat the flesh of a diseased animal?
I'd rather not.

8.
Would you swim in the Cape Fear River? Why or why not?
I have and would now. I'm not sure what the Cape is like closer to Wilmington, but here in Lillington it's great.

9.
If no, does it have anything to do with the hog waste overflow?
no

10.
Do you think that hog farms should be more strictly regulated?
No thanks. Since hurricane Floyd, hog farms have been the most regulated industry in the state. It was a shame the damage that hurricane did with all the flooding. 10 inches the week before and 20 inches during. Hog lagoons have limits, with usually 19 inches of freeboard, and thirty inches of rain is just too much, too fast. As we learned with hurricane Katrina, most government regulations don't meet requirements needed to withstand such forces that a hurricane can bring.
Violators of environmental regulations face steep fines. $20,000 a day is what I heard years ago and I'm sure it's much more now. So, no. I'm not in favor of more regulation. I'm in favor of enforcing current regulation.
I've met several swine farmers over the years. And they all seem like pretty normal people. It's kind of like driving. Do you speed? Have you ever run a red light? Do you come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Depends on the driver, so to speak.
Yeah, enforce the current rules and regulations. The operations I've seen in this area (Harnett County) are clean and becoming more eco-friendly. A couple have lagoon covers that capture and burn methane. Plans are in works to use the methane to power a generator that will provide electricity for the farm and surrounding homes in the community.

This cat is psycho. crazy crazy crazy! miao!! She's going at full speed from chair to table to desk to shelf to counter to the top of another chair, and I keep thinking she's not going to make the jump and it scares the crap outta me because she still can't figure out how to land on her feet.
