"The lizard goes *gaaaaaaak!*"

Les Bonnes Femmes had me appreciating Claude Chabrol for the first time last night. Clotilde Joano is beyond praise, simply angelic.
I had only seen one of his other films, Le Cri du hibou. In "Hibou", Mathilda May was adorable and the plot was engaging and bizarre, but the production values reminded me of a soap opera more than anything.
My French is still pretty bad, but my obsession with cinema is helping. It's as much an obsession with actresses as directors, and I suppose I love JP Belmondo and almost everything he's ever done. I'm determined to see everything Jeunne Moreau, Fanny Ardent, Catherine Deneuve and Anna Karina have ever done. And I just live for Godard's sense of humor, he makes me happy even when his scripts are incomprehensible.
