So it’s Friday morning and I’m laying in the hotel bed waiting for my family to wake so we can prepare for our 6 hour drive home.
Left Sunday morning and got down here about 3pm so it wasn’t too bad other than GPS taking us an asinine route that had 30 miles of if fucking traffic lights. Got here and to no disappointment we’re across the street from a Target. Yeah we win!
Got ourselves situated, picked some stuff for the people and grabbed dinner. Went to some place called Red Hot and Blue... was okay and in my opinion not worth the cost.
Monday - We went to Busch Gardens and had a good time for the most part.
There’s a lot of arguing with my son because he doesn’t wasn’t to ride anything. Started the day off riding Escape from Pompei which freaked him out but handle to ride itself pretty well. Ultimately when it come to rides, I ride alone because the kid is scared and my wife doesn’t like to ride anything except the sky ride... cable cars... whatever you call them and the train that takes you around the park. My son is just as bad and won’t ride any kid rides by himself. He just wants to play games and arcade. He did win himself a big ass Pizza Shark!
After we spent the day at the park, we went mini golfing in town and grabbed dinner. I can’t for the life of me remember where we went to eat, so obviously not memorable. But my wife and son each got a hole in one at golf and still managed to get their asses kicked by me. Haha.
Tuesday - For the second day in a row, I was up early and drove to the Planet Fitness that was it 20 minutes away to keep my workout routine going. Found a Wawa and brought back breakfast and lottery tickets.
This excited my kid a lot. He loves games of chance and the possibility of a prize. He’s a degenerate gambler in training. We were going to Water Country USA which is a nice water park. My boy is still super skeptical of most rides but we got him on some things.
After a good deal of sun, we called it quits and headed back to the room. My son and I traveled to Waller Mill park to play some disc golf. The course was awesome and but strenuous. We played about 7 holes before calling it quits because it would’ve taken us forever to finish and we were already beat from the day at the park. Went to an Italian place that people swear by called Sal’s by Victor... it’s was good enough. Big place and seems conflicted between pizza shop and finer dining... but quality was closer to pizza shop.
Wednesday - Start this off by saying we planned to hit up the colonial aspect at some point along the trip but that had tapered off. I think our hotel location not being in the middle of it all made it less desirable. So back to Busch Gardens.
More arguing with the kid about trying to get in new things. But we did get him on the bumper cars! WIN! I rode a few things by myself again and he worried more about games and now he’s peaked in life. He won the ticket jackpot on one of the games he was playing.
He was able to get this cool airbrushes Sonic the Hedgehog hat which was much better than all the cheesy crap he usually gets for his tickets. I put less stress on the day because I knew no one was going to ride anything so it was what it was and just made things less stressful. After a fun day at the park we went back and went swimming a little bit before going for dinner. We went to The Cook Out which I guess is a southern chain fast food restaurant and it was awesome. Under $20 for us each to get food, cheapest meal of the trip and the most gratifying. And we stopped, stopped in a local gift shop where my son bought Bean Boozled Jelly Bellies. Hahahaha... watching him gag was funny when he got one that tasted like dead fish! PSA - don’t follow YouTube
Thursday - I started off the day running a 5k for my online discgolf club. It was so muggy and I suck at running anymore.
Then it was back to Water Country. We convinced my son to get on other rides which was a perk. But he fought us tooth and nail on the one which was basically a combination of the two he did like. Fucking kid logic.
Afterwards we actually went back to The Cook Out because it was inexpensive and good food. We had time to kill and wound up in this Christmas Mouse store.... sigh... fucking Christmas decorations galore... in July!!! After this we ran to the hotel to grab some water and snacks and parked at the Target... supposedly the lot had a good enough view of Busch Gardens fireworks... 15 minutes before they were supposed to start, the storms rolled in. So I guess we’ll never know how good that view was. Luckily the Norco fair back home is still going so we will still get fireworks Saturday night!
Friday - laying in bed waiting for the rest of these lazy bones to wake up. We’ve got 6 hours of travel today.
