I've decided to learn Japanese. Now, understand, this is not a new decision. It was probably a year and a half ago that I bought my copy of Rosetta Stone, and between then and now I've started lesson one three times. I've just never had the proper motivation to keep going with it.
Sure, I'm in deep girly love with the entire city of Tokyo, and want to go back there every moment I breathe. Not enough motivation, apparently.
And it's also true that I have Japanese sisters, and half-Japanese nieces and nephews. Still not enough.
I'm also going back to school for molecular biology, and the single best grad program in the world for bioengineering and molecular robotics is Keio University, Tokyo. Still, life got in the way, or some other equally lame excuse.
But I'm going to do it this time. I really am. I'm starting over on lesson one today, and I'm going to schedule time every week to learn Japanese. Want to know why?
I finished "The World Ends with You" on my DS yesterday, and the great bulk of really cool games I can start next are never released outside of Japan. There you have it. I'm doing it for video games. I'll admit, it's kind of a shameful motivation, but so be it. It's the one I've got.
On to lesson one.
