FINALLY... I did another drawing.
I'm reading this book "A Short History of Nearly Everything", which is remarkably readable, despite being a broad summary of natural sciences. I am just reading it for fun, as I am not in school anymore, and didn't really take any science classes when I was...

i forgot how great city of lost children was... just watched it for the first time in like 3 years, and it has to be one of the top 5 movies of all time... maybe i'll go rent delicatessen again...

Never seen it. Leonard Cohens a trip! Never would have expected that style from a composer. I'm just starting but his style reminds me of the beatnicks...stream of conciousness. Bizzarness, but good

Yeah that's the thing with all us poor working saps. It's such a trap. You earn your living and you get the ball and chain that comes with it. " workin' for a livin' or livin for work"? I always think about loading a few things into a truck and just leaving it all...but then it probably wouldn't take long befor I degenerated into full on hobo, and that's scary.
awwww, just give me a sailbaot somewhere the water is warm and the surf is good and I could probably live with less than than 20% of what I spend now to stay afloat.
Jeez, sory for all the cliches.
well the citris grove sounds cool. I know you have a brother in SD, so if you ever take a break and come down here you gotta friend too. We'll go down to Baja, drinks some beers on a bluff bar and take it easy!

Man!! your fan art folder's lookin' crazy good. The batmonkey too! The colors are perfect. I've been using a lot of purples and greys lately...in fact today I'm working on a monochrome purple/grey thingy.
I've aborted doing anything of detail lately in favor of intensity and speed!!....basicaly eye catching garbage that's alot of fun to do.

I get home at like 6:30, and am tired and don't want to do anything, then I have to leave by 7 in the morning, so i go to bed at like 10. it sucks. i have American Splendor on DVD that i just got, and have...

LA's not so bad, But i do understand peoples perception of this town. I figure i'll move one day, when i have something worth moving for.

Work is the evil enemy of creativity!!! I hate it, and I'm self employed so I only have myself to hate for it!!!
What do you sell on ebay? I've heard about people running their entire buisiness there, ya know sell a few things and the next thing they new they were quiting their jobs.

you sir, are a very talented artist.
sonicjunky:
Dude!! That is soo dope. Haha! I was joking too, but actualy, I thaught about painting it myself... also cartoonish, but you did a way better job than I would have. If you get bored with the coloring let me know, and I'll paint it!
Thanks everybody.!
I am not really interested in getting money for drawing. I make enough already, and I should be drawing anyway. As long as something seems reasonably painless to draw, I will try to get around to it. I wouldn't feel comfortable charging someone for what I do in my spare time.. maybe that sounds stupid. I dunno. Especially since that is what I...

Yeah, man; keep the craft pure. Or something. On the other hand, don't rule out making money, because that would be as wrong as doing it just for the money.

i LOVE your work that you put in the fan art. where you learn to draw like that boy???
i need to get my easel (its stuck in washington dc), and get back to the studio....

well doods, I have never really commissioned (sounds so professional) any portraits, or done any by request. it adds this weird responsibility to art, which I don't really like. I mean, i am not completely averse to taking money for drawing someone, but i have never done it; what if you dont like it, or i take too long, etc...

er, also, now i'm going to respond to your journal entry. i hate doing commissions and requests. i feel like i have to, and it's so hard to find inspiration to do something when you feel like you have to. art is such a touchy thing to do for a living.
sonicjunky:
Hey, can you do a picture of me as a monkey in a Batman costume? Please Please, it would mean alot to my girl!
aaahh, I get all weird when someone asks me to do something. I just start thinkin' that whatever I do isn't going to be what they had in mind...and then there's the money thing, like how the hell do you figure out a price?
Having said that...I say do it!

thanks for all the support, everyone! every once in a while I actually like some of the drawings I do, and these last few have been some of the ones I enjoy. I have just been drinking the whole time while I do them, and I think it helps. It allows me to be just a little more careless and that usually ends up more...

HaHa, sometimes I'll down a pot of coffee then start on the beer and let loose with the paint! I don't think I could do it with drawing though..too jittery!
Carlsbad is pretty much SD I go past there almost everyday. Not as dence as down south though.
I'll check the book. I've been wanting a new author to check out.

Thanks, yeah thats what my friend was sayin'. He digs the backgrounds, but he thinks the characters are fucked up. HA! Whatever. They're actualy brighter in reality but I still have'nt figured out how to take better photos with the dig.

I'm digging the scratchy style!! It's good to see some traditional work getting lots of props too. I wouldn't mind seeing them all in one folder though?
Hey, I just noticed you're a Cat Power fan. God I was infatuated with her for most of last year. I love her live shows too, even though most people can't stand her oddities.

your drawings are so pretty! Where did you study? I wanted to go to Stanford grad for fine art but it's too hard to get in
I don't think I can.

When it comes to lyrics, the modest mouse is really hard to beat. Some people don't care for their eratic sound, but if you can relate to Isaac's world view they'll be a favorite...he's a master of expression.
