Hiya SG folks! It's been a bit- the last few months of 2023 really got away from me. As some of you know, my partner in photography and in life, Scar (of @two fame) and I got married! It was very exciting but very hectic, so a lot of my online life took a bit of a back seat.
But now it's a new year and I'm ready to get back to my usual internet slut shenanigans 😇
First - I of course want to shoot my second SG set soon! Scar and I are looking at potential locations now, so hopefully we'll have some more sexy stuff for you took look at in the near future. Let me know if you have any wardrobe suggestions for me (or better yet, have any lingerie you'd like to buy for me to shoot in 🥰).
Second- I'm getting back to my regular Twitch streams! If you wanna hang out with me while I play video games, I love to talk with chat and it'd be great to see more SG folks over there. I stream Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons- usually 1pm-5pm central time. Give me a follow and say hello!
Now for a few random favorite things from 2023 to give some closure to the year
Video Games
The obvious standout for the year was absolutely Baldur's Gate 3. I was looking forward to Larian's incredibly ambitious Forgotten Realms CRPG for years, and nearly 400 hours of game time later (including a few early access Act 1 playthroughs) I can easily say this was my game of the year. There aren't many games that come even close to the level of writing BG 3 has, and those that do are never insane enough to fully voice and motion capture that dialogue.
Baldur's Gate 3 is arguably *too much* video game and it's a little absurd that it exists at all, but I'm so happy it does. For the curious- Karlach is my romance of choice. She and my bard Rhiannon are having a great time fighting every devil in the hells together (when they're not having extremely hot sex, anyways).
By sheer tonnage of playtime, however, 2023 was really the year of Destiny 2 for me. I was given a code for the expansion by a friend and finally had a group to raid with, so many of my Sunday afternoons have been spent shooting aliens in the head or other weak points, acquiring delicious loot along the way. The story of Destiny is still somewhat impenetrable to me after all this time, but Bungie absolutely knows what they're doing when it comes to making combat feel just so, so good. Also 6 person raids are way more manageable to organize than something like FF XIV or WoW's 15-30, so I think it's the closest I'm ever gonna get to that MMO experience.
Also my raid group includes some people from Shut Up and Sit Down as well as PC Gamer? I don't know how I got included but it's pretty neat.
Other games I played and loved in 2023- Disco Elysium, Armored Core 6, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Lies of P, and probably others I'm forgetting.
TV
2023 was a good ass year for TV, gang.
After the gigantic mess that was Rise of Skywalker, I was kind of checked out from Star Wars stuff. It just kept being very fanservice-y, which I can enjoy to an extent but I was largely done being excited for any of the new shows coming out.
Andor, though. Goddamn- that show was incredible. I know it came out it 2022, but I didn't actually watch it until January 2023 so I'm counting it.
It's refreshing to see Disney let a project take some risks and do something really different. Andor is a massive departure from the general tone and structure of a Star Wars story, but I think it might be my favorite piece of Star Wars storytelling since I saw the original VHS tapes way back in the day. I could go into way too much detail here, but there's a video essay by LadyKnightTheBrave on YouTube that basically says everything I'd want to say better than I ever could so go watch that I guess!
Then of course there was the final season of Succession, the show that entirely changed the way I say "fuck off" probably forever. There are so many different kinds of horrible people portrayed in this show and they're all just fascinating to watch endlessly mess with each other. I'm sad to know I won't get to watch them anymore, but I'll always have the greatest episode title of all time, "Shitshow at the Fuck Factory," to remember fondly.
There was also season 2 of The Bear, where Jeremy Allen White officially gave me a kink for the phrase "yes, Chef!" and has two of the best episodes of television I've ever seen, Ep 6 Fishes and Ep 7 Forks. "Fishes" might have been the most anxiety provoking thing that has ever been put in front of my eyes, while "Forks" was just this perfect self contained story of discovering joy. I'm so excited to see what else this show can pull off in future seasons.
I don't really have a full section for movies, but Barbie was a pretty good time!
Lemme know what your 2023 highlights were, and maybe what you're looking forward to in the new year! I'm looking forward to being around a lot more in 2024 ✨
