Drunken update 2006:
Ryan took me to New Mexico for Xmas, the sky was wide and bright and blue we ate tons of green chili and I adore his family. And him.
Came home to rainy Portland. I love the rain and hate the grey.
Worked the rainy day away, had the second very wonderful conversation with my suprising boss.

"Whatever happened to me in my life, happened to me as a writer of plays. I'd fall in love, or fall in lust. And at the height of my passion, I would think, 'So this is how it feels,' and I would tie it up in pretty words. I watched my life as if it were happening to someone else. My son died. And I...

Such a great quote... I used to collect Sandman comics some years ago. I should take them out and re-read them!

Oh, how I would marry him. I just finished "American Gods".
I just listened to this song on last.fm
it struck me, reminds me of my evil uncle. . .
Nieces Pieces (Boat Knife Version)
by Xiu Xiu
I can't wait to watch you get older
I can't wait to meet that first boy that breaks your life
I can't wait till you realize the family you've been born into
I can't wait to watch you...

THE CURE
If only tonight we could sleep
If only tonight we could sleep
In a bed made of flowers
If only tonight we could fall
In a deathless spell
If only tonight we could slide
Into deep black water
And breathe
And breathe...
Then an angel would come
With burning eyes like stars
And bury us deep
In his velvet arms
And the rain...

America is a fantastic place. Where else can the guy who serves you coffee make the rough equvilant of four dollars an hour while the guy ordering the coffee heads off to an office to rack up billable hours in the neigborhood of four-hundred dollars an hour?
It makes me laugh when people explain the risk elements of captailism to me and how that justifies the offset in rewards. I like to point out how are nightclub's slowing down coming off the summer and my pay feel by about a hundred bucks a week because of schedule cuts. I'm sure not one of the owners is having any problems making their bills this month.
Ah, I bitch, but honeslty, I love captailism. And I'll love it even more if I can ever get myself one of these. Triple blacked with dub rims and tinted windows. Ah, yes.
The great thing about captailism, and one of it's few saving graces, is that you can easily jump from making a hundred and fifty bucks a week to four or five if you know where to jump. It's tricky, but captailism does often reward people who do have some drive and intelligence and- unlike communism- doesn't pretend that we're all equally incompetent and deserve to be treated the same. Captalism at least allows stand out people to be rewarded better than thsoe who don't stand out. Sadly, it also rewards those that aren't stand out but born to a family that had an extremely stand out patriarch eight hundred and a half years ago. But, what can you do?

I know your pain! I'm a Charbucks university graduate myself. Once in a while I'll have discussions with folks at work about the new Super Sprawl Mart goin in in Gresham and how much I hate that damn company and they just don't get it. Companies like that are pushing for a race to the bottom that affects everyone. One lady says she doesn't even thinks about that stuff then just spouts off some bs like, well those people in the other counries manufacturing our cheap goods need those jobs. I just had to stop the conversasion right there cause we have to work together. But I bet she would never work a full day of work for enough money to buy a bag of top ramen and a pepsi to feed her family. Anyway......hope everything else is going good.
I hate starbucks!

Hey, I'm the new group owner for the writer's guild. We're dedicated to workshopping stuff, so this isn't a group you can join and be a passive observer. There are monthly assignments and you have to critique everyone elses work. If you still want in, post a sample of your writing in my journal, anything will do, 1-3 pages in length. Or a few poems if that's your thing.
Ya got a week.
