I went to a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class last night and my entire body is fucking through. I'm bruised, cut, broken, and I loved every minute of it. It's been awhile since I've gotten the chance to fight. It's also been awhile since I've spent the better part of a night with my face in a man's crotch under totally sober conditions. That's what I get for mustering the sand to fight the teacher. Fucking new guy mentality. Everybody fantasizes about walking into a place where nobody knows your name and schooling everyone at their own game. All I did was walk into this place and get thrown around by a bunch of people who are at the top of a game I've barely even played for the last ten years.

But the true star of the evening was my piss-poor conditioning. The only thing I did more than bleed was dry-heave. I swear I only won the fights I did because my opponent was distracted by the fear of being puked on. It didn't strike me as a coincidence that my watery belches were almost immediately followed by a submission victory.

I'll probably go back as soon as my bruised lungs allow me to draw a complete breath.
