The fabled date last night was pretty good. Not exactly great, certainly not terrible. Upon reflection, I've realized that I've never really been all that taken with someone upon first meeting them. I never really thought about it before, but any successful first dates I've had have always been prefaced by some sort of familiarity with each other. I'm also not usually a one-on-one kind of guy, I much prefer being part of a small group so I can shut up and observe now and then. So meeting someone for the first time like that is a bit rough, even though there may or may not be great things in store for the future.
Anyway, I'll see if we can't meet up again and see what comes of that.
I ran into another friend today...well, not exactly "ran into," so much as "went out of my way to visit." We conspired a bit of naughtiness which should be pretty fun. Details to follow...
In other news, I had a dream last night that a friend brought her two cats over to my house, but they didn't get along with my two cats, so they chased each other around and eventually all snuck outside. We had to corral them one by one and bring them back, but one of hers climbed a tree and couldn't get down. I was able to communicate with it a little using my catspeak, and coax it to leap from the tree into my waiting arms. That worked well...then it pissed on me.
For the record, I don't actually have cats right now.
Also for the record, I went to sleep an hour and a half early last night, intending to go to work an hour early, for the purpose of leaving early. Of course, I ended sleeping later than I usually do. Oh well.
word of the day: contrived (I was trying to think of it before but couldn't. Now that it's no longer topical, it's right there!)

How could I forget the big news of the day? I finally got the new Holly Golightly CD, even though it came out a few weeks ago. Yes, it's true: they didn't have it at Reckless Records (either location) even though the store is based out of London, as is Ms. Golightly. Neither did one of the other Chicago stores I checked. The "hip" record store in Minneapolis didn't have it either, so I had to go to the one place I know I can trust: Evil Clown. You see, it's good because it's Evil!
Anyway, upon first listen, Holly sounds pretty damn good. I also got a random Headcoatees EP, but I haven't listened to it yet.

However, I am not sleeping much and that is almost as bad as being drunk.
