Invasion of the little green lights.
Let me start by saying that I'm a big fan of technology. I love the idea of laying in my bed with my iPad and exploring the world through the wonders of all the things that make such stuff wonderful. But what I DO want to complain about is the litter of lights that exist in my house from all the odds 'n ends that feel obliged to tell me their 'status'.
I think there are 257 items in my house that tell me the time. Each of which glows with a faint, green light that when taken in total, pretty much lights up many rooms in the middle of the night. I really only need my alarm clock to tell me the time and even then.....only when I want it too. I don't really give a shit that it is 4AM if I happen to wake up and look around at that insane hour of the morning. I would rather that it stay dark so that I can get back to sleep.
I woke up to go to the bathroom the other night (yup...I'm old....it happens) and couldn't help but notice the splattering of light in my room. Smoke alarms, phone charges, alarm systems, humidifiers, electric tooth brush chargers, etc etc. Is all of that really necessary?? My humidifier sounds like a helicopter taking off....do I really need a little green light to tell me that it is "ON"?
