My return to blogs!!!
I was driving to work today and arguing with myself about one of those typical, inane topics that people will argue with themselves about (come on!!...admit it....you do it too!!). that was when it hit me...If I am perfectly comfortable arguing with myself, then why shouldn't I continue with my SG blogs where I share my thoughts and reflections with the surrounding ether. So I am back to blogging for a bit .
Todays topic...."things in common"
I really hate the phrase "things in common". For example, "what a nice couple, they have so much in common!!" or, "I really like that girl, we have so much in common". I think the most boring person to hang out with is one that I have much in common with!! I know its easier and safer but also so very bland and flat. I want to meet people that are different than me with different experiences and desires and likes and dislikes and blah blah blah. I want to enjoy their side of things and hopefully show them why I enjoy my side.
I think the only thing you really need in common with another is a shared spirt. That doesn't mean the SAME spirt.... just spirits that blend well together. In a relationship like that, she can enjoy ballet while I enjoy motocross racing but we both have the spirit to embrace what the other one likes and be open-minded about what we experience.
I am a married, 49 year old guy. One of my best friends is a 30 year old Russian woman that I met online (I will pause now while anyone who reads this groans and rolls their eyes....LOL). We met 6 or 7 years ago and have since wrote a million emails, swapped gifts and even met each other when my wife and I visited russia a few years ago (pause again while you realize that my wife is fully informed about this friendship!). We have absolutely NOTHING in common....but we share a spiritual closeness that I simply LOVE. I am very proud of the fact that we created this friendship from a very odd beginning and I think its a super example of how we all must keep our minds open to the true spirit within.
